whats the scam?

he transfers the money via some hacked /dodgy way , you sit there happy theres £xxxx in the bank , then later on a sob story the whole family has got bum cancer and can you refund it but to his other account /paypal whatever

you feel sorry and send £xxx back to alternate bank , then original bank freeze the funds as it was a scam

again why the story about surfboards and sleeping in it? can a young kid insure such a car? , dont need to know that , let me know when you're 10 mins away with cash

Woo hoo, another buyer, bottom end of the price I'd accept and I have to fit the old wheels and tired tyres then sell the Volvo Galaxies (rare Volvo fitment) but they're coming next weekend with cash & drive it way. Would have liked a little more but it frees up garage space for a project car incoming...

Thanks for all your advice.

My general rule of thumb is be very cautious about any promises... "I'll be up next weekend with the money" being one of them. I'd take a deposit, if they're serious they'll be more likely to agree. Don't turn down any potential sales in the meantime. First to arrive with cash wins and it's still for sale right up to the point itsbei g driven away.

That said, I bought my last couple from Wales and London... couldn't get down unt the following weekends but offered a deposit, which both sellers refused and said they considered them sold. I arrived when promised, paid what we agreed and drove back to Edinburgh.

I think you just need to gauge the person, suss them out, do your digging and go with what you feel comfortable with. There's no real set rules, everybody is different..
