Weird reason to reject a car I know, but we’re a strange bunch
I have a GTS, it's the new model with the all black front grill/bumper with the same engine as the 'S' but a bit more power.
It's a great car, not too big but enough space inside and the boot is good. It sounds good (not amazing since the OPF, a little muted) and handles in a way that a car of this size/weight shouldn't.
The only disappointing bits are the fuel economy (I wasn't expecting it to be good but it's really bad, very low 20's and I've never seen 30mpg, even on a long gentle cruise), and the options are a bit of a joke. The standard car is very basic, even the GTS gets a plastic dashboard and doorcards straight out of a Golf unless you pay around £1k for extended leather...the list goes on. My option spend was almost £20k, perhaps a bit excessive but that includes a lot of things that absolutely should be standard on a car at this price point.

Alfa Stelvio QF?
From the "affordable" stuff, this is where my money would go too. Watch the Carwow review.

Casually browsing for a new car for the wife to replace a Jeep GC SRT 6.4.
We both like the Macan. Discounted the RR Sport and Cayenne. Pretty open budget and happy to go up a size.
Didn’t really find the other German offerings very interesting.
Just checking I haven’t missed anything obvious or any other thoughts and experiences from the brains trust?

Aston Martin DBX
Lambo Urus
But not much left that hasn't already been said, unless EV is an option?
Volvo XC40 402 bhp
Audi e-tron 496 bhp
Audi Q8 e-tron 402 bhp
Ford Mustang Mach-e 480 bhp
Thanks for the further input.
We don’t need a TH, we both got our only ever speeding tickets in the SRT
I know someone with a Urus and I don’t really get it. Did look at a DBX (not seriously), I don’t get that either.
She won’t consider an Alfa after my old GTV, which she incorrectly perceived as being unreliable.
Petrol options only please

Had an S for the weekend then a GTS and ended up getting a T for my better half.
I wasn’t convinced in the slightest and thought that it would be rubbish but seriously it’s a cracking car!
Golf R engine in an SUV. The best bit is the handling, the lighter engine makes a big difference and with the sports exhaust it sounds great.
Don’t rule out a base Macan it could well be the pick of the range for your needs.

An estate would open up a lot more options, or does it have to be an SUV - presumably she wants the high driving position?
Correct.I don’t know why either, but happy wife, happy life and all that.
She sat in an A45 and dismissed it straight away as it was too low down.
Now its got to be of that Ilk to get her to even look, just missed an M40i the other week she was more than upset.
Colour = check
Options = check
Interior =check (had to have cream leather)
My girlfriend drives a macan gts. She test drove quite a few but coming from a tt she was disappointed with the response, but the gts seemed to do better than the S. As mentioned the economy is poor but that is fine for you. I assume this isn't an issue but the brakes on it disappointed us, the initial bite is fine but every one I drove just didn't inspire confidence including s and gts models. We found that to get the most compliant ride was to have the air suspension, and thankfully this one has the 18 way seats which all comes together to make it easy for her mum to get in then raise the seat up to where she wants it (on the ceiling!). I'd also mention that the cold startup it is pretty noisy so it's something to be aware of.
Like others said above I did question the suv need but she wanted to have a porsche and do it for a while so she did. There were reservations for a while especially when it's next to my golf which does the same stuff for 30 grand less, plus running costs but she's happy with it and it does feel special when we swap cars. Keep an eye on the options though, even sat nav isn't standard. Oh and there is an option they do to make the steering lighter when parking which she has, she was saying its heavy enough with this option! It's a 2017 model, has car play but they don't offer the android equivalent on that generation. Spent a while looking, got it from opc Exeter which went fine, they even put us in a hotel for the night which was unexpected
