Rust is the big downside of the otherwise superbly reliable Japanese cars I've owned.

Are Clios reliable?

Honda Insight (the first one), mostly plastic and aluminium.

Will do a million miles, well one has in the states.

Rear subframes are about the only bit that rusts, even the brake drums are Aluminium.

I’d say so having had a reasonable amount of experience of them, (and the Clio based Kangoo).

The more basic the model, the more reliable they are.

B5 Audi A4's seem to be pretty solid, they don't seem to rust at least on the important MOT failable parts. Here's a normally aspirated petrol manual 1.8 SE for only £975

Clios (ie 1*2 era) are now rusting quite badly within inner rear wing/arch area and sills. Easy enough to check out if its started by pulling the rear door card off and shining an iphone torch down inside. The fuel filler neck is another area and also a couple of places that can go bad under the car to the rear.

Most mid 2000's Peugeots structurally don't rust, ie, 207, 307, 407. The exhausts will though. The older ones were good too, but will likely need other work doing now.

I had a 2005 206 180 in the last few years too, that was very clean underneath and had lived a normal life in the southwest.

Old Mitsubishi Carismas dont rust as they had galvanized bodies and with a bulletproof engine, boring cars though

I had one from 108k to 159k miles when i was written off due to vandalism, not a spot of rust even with few dings
