Was thinking about an original Mini but ULEZ kills that idea and any other modern classic.
The majority of the original Mini's production run of 1959-2000 falls within the pre-1983 ULEZ cut-off, should be a pretty good drive around town.

If genuinely considering old stuff I think a hotted up Austin 1100/1300 would be great fun and more practical than a Mini. Until very recently they were excellent value but maybe no more... frown

this example is £10k and there are very few others.

Was there not mention of "Panda's ride is obvious crap so the rest of the family hate it!".

A classic mini may handle well for it's time but I think by today or even a few decades ago standards the ride would never be something anyone would complement. I think many classics as occasional toys are great but using them frequently and it's easy to forget how much reliability has moved on and indeed safety. I recall you drive through a puddle and the distributor cap gets wet and you comes to a stop (I know you can update with electronics) but still. Getting the combo of the choke and how may prods of the accelerator are needed for it to start depending on the temp, humidity, some random factor smile

I sometimes borrow my sons 2015 3 door Citigo Monte Carlo, great fun for what it is.
Suspension a bit lower as standard with decent Continental tyres.
Well equipped, £20 ved, 45mpg, group 2 insurance, looks great in white.
Through the back lanes and the twistys its a hoot.

Skoda Roomster Automatic is a possibility - 1.2L turbocharged pushing out about 105bhp.
