Peugeot Rifter would be my choice, long wheelbase version if you need the extra boot space. Citroen Berlingo is basically the same, but I think the Rifter looks a bit nicer.

I have a Mercedes Citan which is great. Feels huge inside and the rear seats fold almost flat into the floor so you don’t have to remove them. It has built in roof bars, too. Ugly as sin, though…

LOL thanks mrbean for the headsup

I have a Tourneo Connect Grand - 2014

Bought for the same reasons- kids - bikes - family life etc

I think its th car Ive owned the longest I keep looking to change, but there is bugger all that apeals, plus I love the space and utliatarian appeal of it

Some great points made already

Speed limits can be a pain in Vans/car based ones, the Ford Conect Tourneo is classed as a car which is a big bonus , otherwise its 60mph limit on DCS which would be a PITA on trips down the A30 , more so as I got points for doing 81mph

Also its classed a 5 seater car as the 2 x extra seats were an option, so insurance is cheap. I found van insurance and 7 seater Galaxyes etc really ramped up your insurance

I fully remove the 2 x seats in the boot , they fold flat but removeing them gives you more space - enough to fit a large pallet and as its flat they can even forklift it in!

I used to literally throw the pram in fully upright in the boot and the sliding doors are a godsend with kids - esp my son who would throw open the door

I take my bike with me to work most days - I just roll it in the boot with both wheels on and it stands up without needing to fold any seats

I find it more comfy on long journeys than the Volvo I had before

Ive slept in it a few times with ease

Downsides:

Its slow off the line if you like racing people away from traffic lights (I dont) but itt'll cruise all day long @ 85 fully loaded - the Gearing is very long

The autos are crap and self destruct @ 80k miles

The build is tough but feels flimsy

Its dated inside - i like that , but some dont

Turning circle is poor

I have some specs of surface rust coming through the thin paint -

I cant see myself going back to a normal car, , modern estates to me just seem style over substance and are too small for me

Transporters are nice but have a huge Fashion Tax , even 10-15k will get you a dated knakered bodged one - no thanks

Caddy Maxi Lifes are nice, but I found the standard spec very poor - most dont have cruise control

Berlingos are OK - but too small as another poster said the last model had a too short boot, the newer model and its clones have a lwd option but I have no experience of them
