I'm hankering for a 2020 onwards RS6 as a one car solution but the only thing holding me back is the memory of a plethora of house break ins/theft in recent years

I assume that RS6s still remain highly desirable for the criminal fraternities, but has anything changed theft wise

Ghost immobilisers etc ....have they changed the game or are these cars still the modern day Cosworth in terms of theft?

I guess it depends where you live. If it will be visible, outside your house, in an area inhabited (or visited) by undesirables, then yes I would be worried. If you live on a farm in the Scottish highlands then you'll probably be ok.

I'd be more worried about having a Golf R, Audi RS3 or Range Rover on my driveway than an RS6 - Golf/RS3 are more manoeuvrable and seem to commit other crimes where they make a handy getaway vehicle. Range Rovers seem to be used for similar but more where they're used as a battering ram (ATM thefts, ram raids on jewellers etc). When then looking at the more common theft for parts/export I'd still be more worried about the above options because they're much more common place and so the ability to offload those parts is greater.

As said above, it's all dependent on your area i.e. If I lived in Birmingham then I'd be cautious of having anything remotely valuable on my driveway, if I had anything special I'd absolutely have to have it garaged whenever not in use. I'm definitely stereotyping there but that's certainly my opinion.

I wouldn't be happy having any kind of Audi RS parked on my drive to be honest, except maybe the RS5 or 7 as that shape of car seems less desirable to thieves.

They are a magnet, if you have a large garage you can park in so it's not visible then id say go for it otherwise I wouldn't want one

The whole car , likely to end up in a container going abroad or on false number plates. It could end up at a "chop shop" type place who can use the shell to conceal the identity of a crashed car, or sell the engine, gearbox, wheels, interior, bumpers, brakes for a decent chunk of money.

I've never seen any evidence of an excessive amount of bank robberies/ get away situations with Rs6s/Golf Rs

+1 for a sensible answer to the OP.
Location location location which applies to lots of cars not just specifically RS6's.

generally the whole car. Used to replace parts on CAT S write off cars. Parts often get sent abroad to lithuania.

The Caravan Using Nomadic Travellers love them too. Nick one, stick on false plates and use it to steal Catalytic Converters or cash points once they've driven a JCB through your local Premier Shop.

I've agonised over the same question about the F82 BMW M4. It would be garaged at home but part of the route from the nice area I live in to the motorway involves driving through a part of Bradford where carjackings aren't uncommon and I guess anyone who wanted the car enough could also follow me home and use whatever means they deem necessary to avail themself of it. Shame we have to think this way when pondering car purchases.

Which part of Bradford would this be? My parents are in Bradford and I visit in some relatively nice metal at times, never gave carjackings a thought. I do tend to choose where I stay overnight much more carefully around there though and opt for hotels with good parking options.

Fair enough in my opinion. It's not that safe living within easy motorway reach of certain cities either. My friend's BMW M car was stolen from a driveway in town under an hour's drive from a city, then found by BiB several days later dumped in a Birmingham back-street, though it'd be more accurate to say that the remaining bits were dumped there. It may just be a coincidence that the car's carcass was found in B'ham.

I live in a nice part of Bingley, but to get to the M606 for the M62 and M1 I have three potential routes. One takes me via Lidget Green and Canterbury, one takes me via Toller Lane, White Abbey Road, City Centre and Manchester Road, the other option is via Canal Road, City Centre and Wakefield Road. All three routes seem to be populated by drivers who are exempt from the rules and possess the carefree abandon of people who've been granted eternal life. You're basically running the gauntlet until you hit the M606. An ex colleague was carjacked at gunpoint on Cemetery Road one evening on his way home from work! The only way to avoid these areas is to go round the Leeds Ring Road to join the M1 near Garforth, which adds an extra ten miles to a southbound journey, but is worth it if you're going far enough for it not to make much of a difference overall.

There's loads of supercars in Bradford and many parked outside £60k terraces. Leeds Road/Great Horton Road on weekends, the stuff parked around is not too dissimilar from Sloane Street/Hans Crescent.

The fact that you're asking the question is your answer, really, especially as any feedback you get from PH will be pretty worthless in the grand scheme of things. If you're followed home by a one of these worthless scrotes, your security measures will be worthless. They're not afraid of CCTV or alarms or even physical barriers like gates, because they're not afraid of being caught and they'll just smash their way into your house, putting you and your family at risk. Expecting a rapid police response would probably be futile. Sadly, that's life in the UK now.

Well, I have had a C7 RS6 for 4 years and a B9 RS4 for 3 and no issues.
And insurance with NFU at under £500 suggests not nicked that often.
But I don't live in the Midlands / Merseyside where most of the stories seem to be based..

That's my point, hence I wouldn't worry about having my car stolen to be used in a bank job/get away situation but people like to go on about it.
