you have to service and MOT all cars.
You could quite conceivably spend £1500 on what seems to be a good car and within a month be another £500-1000 in having found all the hidden faults and niggles it has.
In the vast, vast majority of cases, the cheapest car is the one you already own. Just ride it out till your new one arrives.
