I have a new lease with audi and signed the finance documents on the 9th of April before any delivery date had been arranged.

Now delivery of the car has been arranged for the 31st of May which is not a issue but I've just realised the car was registered on the 30th April and the audi finance has been active since the 30th of April so I'm currently paying for a car that has not yet arrived. I thought the lease agreement only started once delivery of the car had been made.

Has this happened to anyone else before?

Any idea why the dealer would register the car so far in advance of the delivery date. It looks like the car may have been registered before it even arrived at the dealership.

It's not a big deal and I will get it sorted but just trying understand why this has happened. Just wanted to hear others thoughts and experiences.

I'm thinking the dealer needed to register the car in March to get some discounts for my particular deal or the car was almost ready and then had some damage that needed repairs before delivery.

Should I have not signed the finance documents until delivery or until a delivery date had been arranged. How could this have been avoided?

I've previously leased many cars and never had this issue.

or it could be a simple mistake.

Whatever it's not at all right. The lease and warranty should start ticking the day of delivery not a month before.
