We have 1 car, no kids but a fairly large dog. Hatchbacks aren't big enough as that's what we have at present and the dog ends up on the back seats! Minimum 10 mile journeys mostly a and b roads

£10kish budget
Reliable, happy with maintenance obviously
Heated seats
Auto
Bluetooth
Comfy over our rubbish roads

Anything with a bit of luxury?

I was looking at touregs xc60's audi all roads to name a few, are they unreliable compared to the suggestions?

I only say this as I can't get excited about driving a Honda or Vaux! I accept they fit the brief given but so tha ks for the suggestions!

Volvo v70 with the D5 motor. Lovely bit of kit, or, I guess at that budget, any 'premium' estate. I'd recommend an Avensis for peace of mind but not exactly glamorous.

Honda CRV or Accord Estate would be my go-to for something reliable with a decent boot.

CRV. We bought one a few years back. It's the best car I've ever had (well joint first with a V10 S6).

It's the most reliable and comfortable car we've owned. It's never had a fault and only ever needed consumables. MPG could be better but that its the only criticism.

Boot is big and the seats fold completely flat by pulling two handles.

If you want luxury then here's where I'd be looking:

If you want reliability then your looking towards Toyota, Honda, Kia,Hyundai, Lexus, it’s certainly not in a VW group car, Nissan, Mercedes car.

Subaru Outback or Forester.

If you want a Touraeg or Allroad for £10k do you have a lot in hand for running costs?

I think I'd be straight to Volvo or Lexus with these requirements. V60 might suit the dog better for getting in and out but if that's not a problem, I think the later RX450h's are falling into this price range, even with sensible miles.

Some good Korean options too. Something like a Kia Sportage would be worth considering.

Crv looks good, are the diesel engines OK? Seem to be able to get a decent age and spec for £9k.

Also like the volvos mentioned, is the v60 as reliable as the v70? Just thinking same engine but newer car?

I have diesel CRV. Engine is fine. Fairly powerful and good pull. As I said above MPG could be better but that's more down to the shape and size of the car than the engine.
