Sold Car / Money Back / Complex One?
Discussion
I'm actually amazed to read all this.
What does this guy say or do when a buyer turns up and finds he's been lying?
He says he's had it 2 years but the log book will show he's just bought it. He says full history but he doesn't actually have any.
It really does put you off private sales sadly.

At the risk of being a party spoiler (and believe me, I think the buyer is a scumbag who deserves everything he gets)
I suggest that people do not wind the buyer up on Facebook with booking false viewings, wasting time, etc.
We do not want to cause recriminations for the OP should this thread be discovered.

It won't cause recriminations. The tool will sink into his shell. I suggest that people do not wind the buyer up on Facebook with booking false viewings, wasting time, etc.

Some people are just numpties. Someone tried this on my mum's partner, who's in his 70s, when he sold a Honda motorbike.
I suspect it was a similar scam, to flip it and get an extra few hundred pounds in immediate profit.
The buyer, who had test-ridden it, brought it back several days later requesting a partial discount and complaining it didn't perform as well as he wanted. The bike was made in 1983!!!

It’s easy enough to get hold of new service books and have a stamp made up.
I typical PH poster would spot all the issues with this car/seller and walk (or indeed run) I suspect there are plenty who will turn up - see a shiny car and buy it....
The last car I sold, the buyer didn't really do any of the basics checks..

there's a car dealer near me, and every car with the 'twin power' engine he advertises as 'twin turbo'I'm sure he knows they are not twin turbo's, it's just another wee scam, a wee white lie to make a car appear more desirable and therefore more £££'s to the trader.
