RWD is an odd requirement for a luxo barge, not like you will be drifting around roundabouts

Perhaps because the AWD ones are rubbish or out of budget?

A *lot* of clocking goes on with diesel S Classes in the private hire market, I'd rather have an ex AL 5 year old one with 150k on the clock than an 8 year old S350d that claims to have only done 80k for the same money.

Hint: No eight year old S350d has ACTUALLY only done 80k miles hehe
I agree. I'd say literally no one buys a diesel S class to do no miles but then remembered my father in law has one so some people must do.

I'd treat any low mileage example with extreme scepticism.

What year/model is his?

I have a theory that as the S class has gotten bigger and bigger and the E class nicer and nicer the people who used to buy an S class privately and run it are getting thinner on the ground as they age out and die, and downsize. Privately owned W140s and W220s were reasonably common but from the W221 onwards they seem to be rocking horse poo, and usually mega spec 500s and 600s when you do find them.

Lots of sensible mileage one old boy since 3 years old Jaguar X351s around though.
