Hi everyone

Just joined! First post so be gentle ??

I’m looking for a different car.
I’ve got a few things I want it to be/have but looking for ideas as I’m stuck on Volvo / Evoke territory
-SUV pref or higher driving position. Feels safer for kids. Getting rid of a Ford ranger.
-powered tailgate
-keyless start/entry
-spacious inside. Pref leather.
-soft comfy ride. (I had an S type jag the ride and space, seats etc was awesome)
-Bluetooth connectivity. Not just calls. iPhones / Spotify etc.
-5 seats (7 is fine too)
-automatic
That’s all the boxes I want to tick really.
Budget 10-22k but ideally around 15 ish.
Petrol or diesel not fussed. Not electric.

Looking forward to the suggestions.

Many thanks guys and gals.

Have you considered a 2018 onwards Mazda CX-5? Has all of the above requirements on a Sport spec upwards.

Interesting. What year was the next facelift X5

With the Mazda how’s the ride what with it being sports model? Usually they stiffen suspension etc. I had a Volvo xc60 sport r design and the ride was way too firm.

.
That was the last year of that shape. The newer shape ones are a bit of a jump price wise.

C5 aircross or DS7. Both very softly sprung and have all the toys you list there .

Depending on what size of car you're looking for I can recommend an F25 X3, ideally with the excellent 30d engine. Good to drive, practical without being too big on the road and available with plenty of kit if you can find a well-optioned example.

2018 onwards BMW X3. Your budget would get you a 20d around 80,000 miles. All specs of the newer car will give you what you need in budget.

Evoque with the 2.0 diesel is a big NO, as is anything Euro 5 diesel, however cheap and tempting they may appear.

I went from this....

(2013 2.2 SD4 Auto Pure Tech)

To this...

(2018 30d M Sport)

Much prefer the BMW in every aspect - far more economical too, despite being a 6 cylinder. An earlier X3 xLine is definitely worth a look - don't discount the 30/35d. If looking at the 20d in the older car, make sure it's 190bhp not 184 - the latter is the N47 which is a bad unit.

An X1 gives you so much more than the X3 for your money, again xLine is best. sDrive is FWD, xDrive AWD. Avoid the 18i.

The DS7 is very dear though. An approved used car does come with 24 months warranty, which if the 5,000 mile 69 plate I drove before buying the X3 is anything to go by, an iron clad warranty is a must! All form over function, sadly.

The sport model is just a trim level variant. Every single trim level has the same suspension on the CX5.
