Test Driving Car But Want To Buy In 4 Months
Discussion
Let me start by saying I definitely will be buying an e92 M3 in about 4 months, the reason for the wait is I want to pay a couple things off first.
I am unsure of whether to get the DCT or a manual, my current preference is a manual but I do want to test drive both to see what I prefer as there is a lot of praise online for the DCT. I feel the only way I can truly decide on which I want is a test drive.
Is there anything wrong with doing test drives in both a manual or DCT now or should I wait closer to the time? Typically I would only test drive a car when I am ready to buy, but since I have already started buying parts it will help me decide what else to get within those 4 months, I don't want to waste anyone's time.

Specialist dealers are usually shy about offering test drives anyway and therefore if your not ready to buy they most likely won't let you in the car. Now a good salesperson might see you as an opportunity to sell the car there and then and to be honest if the right car comes up your better off getting it then waiting and then potentially never finding one as good.
Good E92's are rare these days

Personally I’d wait until I was in a position to buy the actual car I was testing. That would make me feel a lot better about what I was doing.
If you aren’t at least able to buy the car, you are literally wasting that person’s time because there’s no way you are going to buy it.
This is the way, find an owners group and you will find someone happy to take you out.If you aren’t at least able to buy the car, you are literally wasting that person’s time because there’s no way you are going to buy it.
