Never mind M2s, the M-lite's are starting to take a battering from the insurance costs.

The M135i/140/235/240 forum on facebook has more good examples going up at lower prices and it's all because of the horrendous insurance increases. And yes, I can understand why - there are also a great number of mapped Cat-S' that are appearing for sale on there. But it still leaves the rest of us baulking when insurance prices have gone from £1600 a year to £2400 overnight. When you can only chop it in for £14k, what do you get that's comparable for the money?
Big demand for 340i’s (2015-2018) at the moment. Relatively low insurance in comparison to the m140/m240i’s.

Mustang trade in prices have definitely fallen through the floor!

Not that I'm looking to sell mine, but I generally keep an eye on pricing. Mine's only about 6 months old and currently valued at around £30k on Motorway ... it was £42k two months ago.

Can't get a CAP price for some reason, but the above is shocking.

Hopefully when the S650 comes out it'll be £60k+ as expected and help prices of the current gen.

I was planning on keeping this one until next summer, but there's no way I'm paying to get out of the finance.
Do you regret chopping in your bmw for one?

Not really, it was an itch I wanted to scratch as there's not many manual V8 cars out there nowadays. I just need to time my next change well if / when values bounce back.

It's got way more character than the BMW and is generally more fun, but obviously I've had to make concessions with it.

I'll really find out how big those concessions are over winter and when we take the dogs away on holiday later in the year!

The way i view it is that depreciation is the difference between buying price and selling price.

You've no interest in selling it so offer prices are a moot point.

The time to have the bunfight to get the best price is when you're ready to sell, which i presume is well down the line.

Certainly thats the view i'm taking with my M2.

I suspect Mustang sales are somewhat seasonal and dealers will lowball on anything they think they might risk being stuck with all winter.

It will be interesting to see where we are next Spring for these types of cars.

Yep, I have a feeling that's when my Mustang itch will have been scratched and it'll end up either being replaced or kept long term.

The new gen will be out in the UK by then as well, and from what most Ford dealers have told me it'll be quite a bit more expensive than the run out current gen cars.

Can't see many people choosing to buy one coming into what should be autumn / winter ... though enjoying the warm and dry roads!

M2 Comps are dropping back.

It wasnt that long ago that a 2020 car with sensible miles and both packs from a BMW main dealer would have been £42-43K.

Main BMW dealer near to me had one with 24K miles, both packs and in Laguna Beach Blue for £36,995.

In fairness it didnt sit long.

Insurance seems to be a problem on those, and i suspect they've previously attracted younger drivers who are now baulking at the premiums / renewals.
I sold my 2020 M2C two weeks ago to a main dealer for c.£37k. It's currently up for £41k with them.

Land Rover products and performance SUVs are tanking. I think in part due to insurance costs.

My SQ7 has gone from £900 a year to £2400 a year.

So I did a WBAC quote. £36k on a car I paid £55k for last year, at four years old.

Ouch!

I ran a quote on a 2019 RR Vogue TDV8. Of the few companies that would quote me, cheapest was over £7k.

46, employed, no health, conviction or claims issues, 15+ years NCB.

I think that the combination of big insurance costs, disappearance of cheap finance and non-car cost pressures is going to lead to some serious bargains, soon as people dump stuff to save money.

I am considering a 991 series Targa 4 GTS. GT 911s seem to be holding on asking price. I don't see that lasting.

Look at prices in things like DB11s and Vanquishes. Nosediving.

As mentioned on the other pricing thread, the majority of dealers use external stock funding so they aim to sell a car within a maximum of 90-120 days, after this the car may become “fully paid” where they have to pay the capital balance. To avoid this dealers will often heavily discount or trade the car.

Cars purchased around July when prices started to cool will be getting moved on quickly before the end of year slow down.

I currently have a 2015 Fiesta ST and have been thinking of changing it for a similar year BMW M235i, obviously aware it's going to be more expensive to buy, fuel, service and tax but got a bit worried about vastly higher insurance so went on a comparison site.
For me, 54 year old with no points and 20+ years NCB, the Fiesta was £430 (I think about £100 more than currently) and the BMW £630 so not really an issue in my case but maybe for the more youthful.
I still plan to wait and see for most of the winter as I don't want to be the fool who buys just before the market for fast BMWs takes a dive and a powerful RWD will be more use next spring anyway!

Same! Both the TVR Cerbera 4.5 and E92 M3 have gone up in value since I sold them for example. I remember being heart broken years ago when I bought the X5 4.8iS for £20k...and I only got £10k for it 17 months later as well. cry

I tend to try to forget/try not to worry about the depreciation now with cars, and I just enjoy the car while I've got it, and I just expect them to cost me an arm and a leg in depreciation.

I was clearly buying V8 petrol engined cars when nobody wanted them it seems I reckon!

I20N seems to be up.

Looks like a certain amount are coming into stock and dealers are pricing them above list.

It definitely must be great when you buy a car that goes up in value, or at least stays the same in value. I remember being a bit short on budget for a BMW 1M when I was looking at buying the E92 M3. However if I could've afforded the 1M that would've been a cracking buy I reckon, because they've basically never lost any value since their launch back in 2011 in fairness.

One I actually got right! Bought my 1M from a BMW main dealer for £33k in January 2020. Sold for £45.5k
less than 2 years later after putting a further 6,000 miles on it. Spent £0 on it as it was serviced when I bought it and under warranty the whole time. Wish I could repeat that!
