I don't 'get' the fun thing with barges. A barge is about being cosseted from the outside world. It should make you feel impervious to everything from road conditions to 'culture wars' and international politics. It is your haven of self, a hermetically sealed bubble where only you matter and you feel relaxed, confident and reinvigorated to face your next gathering of Powerfully built directors or the bustle of the middle aisles at Aldi. Fun doesn't come into it. Some are quick, sone are slower, but all are a panacea for life itself. You should be able to get a barge on the NHS to help your mental health. Fun? Pah, ill take the big Japanese saloon with the silent v8 and insulate myself against the many slings and arrows outrageous fortune tosses my way.....
I have fun in mine. I drive it hard and throw it around a bit. It's hopeless of course, and the fun bit is usually in tandem with high anxiety too. My CG lock is a must when being uncouth.I drive a mini by the way

I usually drive barges slowly because when I owned them I couldn't really afford to run them
Still kind of proud and amazed that I ran a LS400 for my 120 mile a day commute while earning £19k.
Now nearly 20 years later I've gone soft.
I think that's my real reason also, but my wittering sounded better in my head....Still kind of proud and amazed that I ran a LS400 for my 120 mile a day commute while earning £19k.

I'd say so, yes. They still have their issues (including valve stem seals) but I think they're slightly less bork-prone.
Even if they weren't, you'd be as well going all in to say you've had a V12 or stick with a 6 cylinder car.Purchase price would be the main thing dictating that though really as the V12's seem to still be a lot more to buy.

One of my favourite Lexus, based on nothing more than the alloys…

I always liked these as a kid. That two tone colour and those wheels looks fab. I even like boring but incredibly functional Japanese interiors. Love it.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204677018374?mkcid=16&a...

You're tasked with delivering a package 2,000 miles across Europe. It needs to be delivered asap so it's a lot of hours behind the wheel.
The package is about the size of a guitar case.
You have £10,000 to spend on a car to carry out the task.
Your petrol can be claimed back from the company so MPG is not an issue.
Which car do you take?
Best LS400 I could find....or an SC430....guitar case could go on passenger seat. Honorable mention for best citroen cx, or xm I could find or a potentially ropey series 3 xj6....The package is about the size of a guitar case.

.....oops.

My old 728i is still going and is on about 200k. I'm fact, my M3 is the only BMW I've owned that has yet to go over 100k I remember back when I thought 60k miles was when a car had started to have it, and I was a bit dubious buying a 50k mile car. Ha!

The answer is in fact 4-speed automatic. Let's have a look at another one, maybe you can do better next time.

Not really sure who that is directed towards? None of us wrote the advert. Our survey said: "bzzzt"

I’d say it’s directed towards the bloke who wrote the advert; that’s how i took it anyway. If you don’t like it, just keep scrolling.
As a distraction, you aren’t going to find many better ways to spend £4k -

Black wheels are (goes without saying) utterly awful.
