Expensive as a good one is, received wisdom is that the real expense with these is keeping them up to scratch!

I always wonder about the life of these cars in Japan. Who owned them, what they've seen etc. Too many Yakuza movies I guess.

^ you do!

As we're doing Friday Chav, here's a £2k A8 V8 with tinted headlights.

That actually looks very easily reversible in an afternoon. I quite like those wheels on it.

Might be looking at a barge in the next few weeks to free up some cash from the current car. Only requirement is isofix and not the totally norm, Golf, Focus etc.

Any ideas from the experts?

The seats look really comfortable in that car for some reason.

Isn't a love of S&M, at least of the wallet, an accepted part of smoker barge ownership? getmecoat

And I agree, I love Citroens of the 20th century.
My favourite uncle owned a DS21 or 23 Safari when he was a doctor in the RAF in the mid-60s, such a cool car.
And my first company car in 1982 was a yellow GS Club estate. One of the most comfortable cars I ever drove, and remarkably sprightly for a car with a 1220 cc engine. And so easy to change a wheel, not that I remember ever having a puncture. I'd happily have one again now. GS Club, not puncture smile

You need to give us some clues chum. Do you need to move kids, dogs, luggage? What sort of mileage do you do?

Things like Golfs and the Focus aren't really barges, so what do you like?

Sorry, 1 x child in an isofix seat. Which I think really limits the date range? 2010 they came in? I don’t mind hatch/saloon/4x4. Prefer German over Jap.

Isofix was available in the early 00s, but didn't become mandatory until later. For instance, on the W211 E-Class I know it was a zero cost option at least for some of the car's life.

When browsing the ads, look for the tell-tale tags on the seat above the isofix points. Don't be dissuaded by fancy electric seats, for instance my 2007 LS460 has isofix AND power seats in the rear. Absolute mare to fit, because the lugs are somewhat buried Vs a typical family car. But doable. Just don't tell the Mrs that it was the most painful part of the child birthing process, they don't like that.

Also, if you do go barge then check the manual as to any restrictions around use of a child seat. Again, in the LS, you have to have the seat all the way up. So we're careful not to adjust it by accident!

So, from my looking at S-classes (W221), 7-series (F01) and LS460 (XF40, for completeness but quite redundant) they were all available with Isofix AND the armrest of win.

And with reusing the BCA pics one might conclude that he's bought a dog and wants out (probably at a loss)

Didn't those ones have dodgy gearboxes? You would fix the electrical fault only to find it was a cover for something much worse! Probably best avoided.

All that effort to black out the windows, front and rear lights but keep the wheels stock silver. Disappointed it doesn't have black rims.

If you're going for the 'murdered out' look why bother with half measures. Should have done the chrome bumper strips as well.
