Sorry, 1 x child in an isofix seat. Which I think really limits the date range? 2010 they came in? I don’t mind hatch/saloon/4x4. Prefer German over Jap.
Isofix was available in the early 00s, but didn't become mandatory until later. For instance, on the W211 E-Class I know it was a zero cost option at least for some of the car's life.

When browsing the ads, look for the tell-tale tags on the seat above the isofix points. Don't be dissuaded by fancy electric seats, for instance my 2007 LS460 has isofix AND power seats in the rear. Absolute mare to fit, because the lugs are somewhat buried Vs a typical family car. But doable. Just don't tell the Mrs that it was the most painful part of the child birthing process, they don't like that.

Also, if you do go barge then check the manual as to any restrictions around use of a child seat. Again, in the LS, you have to have the seat all the way up. So we're careful not to adjust it by accident!

So, from my looking at S-classes (W221), 7-series (F01) and LS460 (XF40, for completeness but quite redundant) they were all available with Isofix AND the armrest of win.
Top barge parental information there! beer
If I can add a few more then...

Integrated electric blinds/curtains in the rear doors. I never knew they were useful. But, they are. Driving along, you see the sun is in the little one's face, just press the button and they're in shade.

Integrated fridges are useful for keeping milk/formula cold a bit longer.

If you have a rear seat configuration with a fixed rear armrest, rotating child seats can foul on this. In the LS we cannot rotate the seat with the armrest down but fortunately it's easy to put away again.

You need to give us some clues chum. Do you need to move kids, dogs, luggage? What sort of mileage do you do?

Things like Golfs and the Focus aren't really barges, so what do you like?

Then Golf Plus will do. NEXT

One way train ticket purchased for tomorrow. A barge just for me :-) any guesses? It’s within the 1-5k range.

Given its you I want to say a W220, but I know you don't pay more than £500 for those so I'm a bit stumped biggrin

The days of really cheap w220’s seem to have passed now. I was picking them up every week for £300-£500 minimum seems to be a grand now. Maybe I killed all the really bad ones.

Is the depiction of Thor summoning a sparky mess of lightning a reference to the reputation of French electrics?

Truth be told at first I didn't spot Mjolnir and assumed the present owner is a massive fan of the former bass player for Nightwish, Marko Hietalo.

Perhaps after a return to the 1970s car colours, we're due a resurgence of airbrushing and vans with old mattresses in the back what for the purpose of wooing the ladies?

CLS is such a tempting prospect but I would never live it down having a 4-door car with only 4 seats... the missus would be bringing it up at every opportunity (negatively).

May have had a serious brave pill moment and put a deposit down on this

X164 420 CDI with 171k miles.

It has unicorn spec with Distronic, keyless entry/go, quad zone climate, heated and cooled seats and apparently all works. I hear good things of a giant history file. Collection caper awaits. It was cheap - a bit above mid-thread budget.

Good work LayZ. I defer to tobinen on these issues but I'm not sure if we've seen any of those before. Seems very cheap.

Lots of lights on the dash and weird electrical occurrences, probably just the battery. Right? RIGHT?

As a long term owner of a one of these (albeit diesel): lots of dash warning lights would suggest water ingress or (if dual 12v battery version) a poor / dying aux batttery in the rear bulkhead. Or (ime) a problem with one of the speed sensors / abs senders: kick off warnings for absolutely everything else: cruise, steering, suspension, door locks, etc etc just because it doesnt know for sure how fast it is really going.

Water problems at this age may well be scuttles blocked: common issue in all of the front drains. And also the rear: as there are a ton of electrics behind the rear seats.

A decent MB specific code scanner would give way more detail.

Fantastic car BTW: I would happily get another smile
