I hope bringing in an EV version won't kill off the hybrid like they've done with the XC40Gin and Ultrasonic said:
Another thing to note is that some cars are only front wheel drive, which I didn't realise, as I specifically wanted all-wheel drive as I live rurally and up a private road with a steep hill. Worth checking if this is important.
and the T6 and T8 have the petrol engine driving the front and the electric driving the rear, so might be an issue if you want AWD a lot.RizzoTheRat said:

There's a 'Constant AWD' mode on my T8, so it is available if required. I've used it in some light snow and the car was fine, although with AWD and winter tyres I'm not certain what was having the most effect. AWD does chew through fuel though, as I think it's using the petrol engine to charge the battery to run both drivetrains at the same time, so if you need to run it for a long time for any reason you'll use a lot of fuel. There's also a 'Rough road' setting which jacks up the suspension to the highest height and can only be used at low speeds - I've used it a couple of times to get through some deep puddles, but not ventured into any fields to test it properly.RizzoTheRat said:

Yes, these cars are very strange with two, two wheel drive drivetrains. I just don't get it especially for those of us who want an AWD car.dirtbiker said:
Also keen to hear people's thoughts on this one - a T8 is a strong contender for replacing our ageing Audi SQ5...

Interesting, thanks. I suspect Volvo maybe backtracking. I never knew that the EX90 could be a hybrid as well and the headline says that the XC60 replacement can be electric. Personally, I think Volvo has nailed its colours to the BEV mast too early and that's before you look at the prices of the EX90.This looks quite intriguing: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-20...
I have an XC60 Plus (Black Edition) on order, hoping to have it delivered by October. It's replacing a Discovery Sport.
We went with the B5 engine as it was the best deal (it's a lease) and 250hp seems plenty, even if the economy isn't particularly great, from what I've read.
I'm not sure if you're a cash buyer or looking to finance, but the lease deals on these are pretty good at the moment. Ours is roughly £2800 upfront and £475 monthly, albeit with just 6000 miles as it will be my wife's car.
Would have loved the Ultimate variant for all the toys - air suspension, matrix lights, HUD etc - but its quite a bit more expensive so decided to draw the line there.
Lease deal was from here, in case you're interested: https://www.santanderconsumer.co.uk/offers/contrac...

To chip in, we have the updated T8 that comes with the larger battery and more powerful electric motor. The updated T6 is the same in that respect. If you can afford it, it’s definitely worth looking for the updated models (I think they came out in 2022).
Big improvements: double the battery size so we see 30-40 miles on electric which is perfect for my 11 mile each way commute; the electric motor is updated to 145bhp, which is plenty for day to day driving in traffic so makes electric only a real option - in reality it means electric only has similar feeling performance to our old diesel SUV.
As a result of both of those improvements you’ll see substantially better fuel economy. Even on a long run when the battery is showing 0% we see 38-48 mpg provided you stick to speed limits.
I concur with other posters that the seats are very comfortable, but no more so than something like a high spec BMW “comfort” seat.
The AWD system is very effective - the electric motor powers the rear axle and the ICE powers the front - if the battery runs low the ICE has a 50kW motor/generator that the car will use automatically to either transfer power to the back, or top the battery back up - net effect is you always have AWD and the full 450BHP available regardless of battery charge state.
I find it a comfy, relaxing place to be, with way more than enough power for overtaking when you need it.

Not aimed at you, however I have fond memories of the V90CC I had through Santander back in 2019, which was £272/month on a 1+17.We went with the B5 engine as it was the best deal (it's a lease) and 250hp seems plenty, even if the economy isn't particularly great, from what I've read.
