I ordered the Kia Sportage s line, fusion white with black roof on 11th February with expected delivery 31st March ‘ 22. After several conversations with the dealership, they still don’t have a chassis number! indicates it’s not been built yet. Until they receive this there is no date for delivery. Beyond frustrating as I’ve just had to pay for road tax/insurance/service /MOT. My Green Flag insurance had also run out. Don’t want to take out a new contract as all of this is covered with the Kia package. I’m wondering if I’ll ever get the car. ??
Any update on yours yet? I’m getting nothing from Kia and have ordered the same car as yourself, albeit a couple of weeks later than you. Incredibly frustrating when you are notified a 6-8 build timeframe when ordering!

I now receive fortnightly updates. Every time I see the email header, I get excited like a kid who’s told Xmas is coming early. Alas, no, still February 2023.

Every. Two. Weeks.

My dealer for the same car (GT Line S only difference) is still saying November and I ordered in March too. Did you think yours was going to be later but came in earlier?

Here’s a strange one:

As standard the PHEV GT-Line S comes with 19” wheels, and not particularly nice ones I have to say. That also means 235/50/19 tyres and the ride quality they bring.

I recently had a demo HEV GT-Line S with much nicer 18” wheels and 235/55/18 tyres, which had a reasonable ride quality.

Looking at the Kia specifications, it seems that the HEV can have 18” or 19” wheels, whereas the PHEV is 19” only. I assume that battery/motor/weight aside, the HEV and the PHEV are mechanically identical (brakes, mounts etc). Does anyone know if the PHEV is at least homologated for 18” wheels?

I don’t think so, it may be a difference in brakes or gubbins required for a harsher auto regen on the bigger battery PHEV.

The extra price of the PHEV for not much benefit and the 19” wheels meant I went for a HEV on 18s in the end. I think the HEV is also the same to 60 despite having less power than the PHEV.

Saw a guy at the golf club in the new Sportage this evening, his older one was in the garage for work. His response ‘it’s okay, not great.’ but it was only a 1.6 petrol 3. Hoping I feel more inspired by mine!

Truth be told, if it wasn’t for the BIK difference and the HEVs being absent from our company car list, I’d be leaning towards the HEV too: it was fine to drive and spent a surprising amount of time in EV mode. It’s also 200Kgs lighter so will also certainly feel quicker on its feet (in the context of hybrid SUVs of course!).

It’s arrived! Only issue is that it has come with 631 miles already on the odometer! Dealer is ‘Investigating’!

Nice: must’ve been a day for red ones yesterday, having seen one on the road and now yours above. Prior to that, never seen one!

Re. colour, seems Kia have changed the standard colour to yellow. Yes, yellow. That’s a big car for such a colour! And a crafty way of nudging people to pay extra for paint.

That is strange but from what the dealer was saying to me they were having issues getting certain paint colours so maybe it's being driven by a supply/demand pattern.

What spec is it? Initial impressions? What has it replaced?

1.6 GDi HEV GT-Line

Replacing a Volvo V60. It’s pretty good, missing (or will miss) a few features I did have such as heated seats, powered tailgate etc. will also take a while to get used to the rotary gear selector. Not found a good seat position yet and they are nowhere as comfortable as the Volvo, not wide enough for me.

Dash is very good, even with the main dash not being a full screen it is very seamlessly done. Apple car play will be useful, never had that before.

Going to save a fortune in fuel too, old car was around 28mpg, after 50 miles this is at 48mpg.

I am collecting my car this Saturday (23rd July). It arrived at the dealership earllierthanexpected but has to go through the workshop. This Saturday was a convenient day for me to collect. I’m wondering how long it will take me to get used to all the technical things.
I currently have a FREELANDER 2 HSE. It’s been a brilliant car, but getting on a bit, It was time for a change. The one thing I will miss are the very comfortable, like an armchair , seats.

Interesting choice of car to swap from, how do you find the Kia from a road noise and general ride comfort perspective?

I am now the proud owner of a lovely cheers bud charge GT line S. The dealership I went to in Portsmouth were brilliant at the handover. Everything explained in detail. The technology is AMAZING! it’s going to be a lengthy learning curve to work it all out but I remembered the essentials to get me home. Fortunately my son loves technology and sorted it out quite quickly but he has a very hi tech BMW so is quite aufait with it all. I chose the fusion white/ black combo paint finish.
My one piece of advise if I were to be brave enough to get any is to ask your dealer for a quote for the Kia car insurance. I arranged mine with my own insurer so that it was in place ready for my switchover. The day before my pickup, Kia sent me a quote and it was only a small amount more than my own insurer. The benefit being that if there was any accident care literally take care of everything they can for the roadside, do the repairs give you a courtesy car etc. with my insurer they choose where the car would go and if I used somewhere else like a care workshop I would have to pay a £200 excess on top of my normal excess of £250 for using a repair shop that’s not their preferred choice. It’s something I’m going to consider as I have a 14 day cooling off period, when I’ve read the Kia paperwork. So far, I think I’ve made a perfect choice!🤞🏼🙏🏼
One thing I was told when I asked if cars were coming through quicker is that there was a shipment of 3,000 cars that have been delayed / anchored in the channel to allow numerous container ships bringing grain in .

Pretty awful if I’m honest (compared to what I am used to) much louder than the Volvo on the motorway, struggling to have a conversation with rear passengers. Seats are very uncomfortable, not wide enough for me (I am 17st though!!!) and the suede material in the centre of the Gt-line seats makes you sweat!

Fuel consumption on a work commute is a huge improvement, getting around 46mpg whereas used to get about 28 in the Volvo. Not a huge difference on the motorway, get about 39mpg.

Still loads of little niggles/annoyances that I haven’t got used to yet but I’m sure I will, only done 350 miles in it so far.
