Also... mine doesn't seem to have the blind spot camera feature. I thought they all did? The function isn't in the settings menu.

Not sure if this thread is pretty dead but here's some thoughts after 350 miles in the last 4 days:

I chose this as a company car as I could only choose from PHEV or full electric - i didnt fancy full electric yet. If you don't charge the battery it maintains approx 15% to 20% charge for acceleration. You also get about 35mog to 40mpg normal driving. This is based on a round trip journey today Barnsley to Grimsby to Shorpe to Barnsley (very glamorous I know). Mostly motorway at 70mph to 75mph. A few lads at work who have other PHEVs report the same numbers - Volvo XC40 and Peugeot 3008).

The safety tech is impressive on one hand but really anoying on the other. You can't permanently turn off the lane keeping assist, forward collision warning etc. etc. which does get a bit irritating.

The drivers/front seats aren't really the most comfortable compared to other cards I've had - Hyundai i40, Mondeo, Civic Type R (yes really comfy seats!).

But despite all the st above it is a really nice car and I'm glad I waited the 12 month for delivery!

Thanks for the feedback

I can’t wait to get rid of mine (but I’ve still got it for 28 months frown )

Customer service from KIA has been awful (brand new car delivered with nearly 700 miles on the clock)

Seats are not comfy for me (I am a big guy)

Sat nav is awful

App to send sat nav destinations to the car only works half the time (I use this a lot)

I miss features I previously had, my fault, should have paid the extra for the GT Line S

Had a problem with the active air dampers over the cold weather

I find the main car controls screen toggle between media and climate annoying, I want one knob to do temperature and one to do volume without having to constantly change screens which can be tricky while driving on bumpy B roads.

Anyone else having issues with front parking sensors randomly going off all the time? Never had it happen on a car before.

Also keep trying to change between drive and reverse (or vice Versa) while parking without my foot on the brake (previous cars allow this) and have almost crashed a few times as I was not in the gear expected.

I only ever use Apple Car Play or Android Auto. Cant see the need to use any other type of sat nav.

You can use steering wheel control for volume rather than switching the dual function knob.

Just put your foot on the brake?

Looking to change my wife’s car (BMW 430d gran coupe xdrive) and quite like the look of the new Sportage. The BMW was my choice but she thinks it’s too low & awkward to get into - hence an SUV type thing for easier access.
Like the idea of the GT line S petrol hybrid but that’s now over £40k so higher RFL @ £590pa (£40k for a Kia - yikes!!) - would be looking secondhand but still the same issue.
Haven’t driven one yet but called into a Kia dealer - wasn’t at all impressed (we have the BMW & mine is a Porsche) - definitely gave the impression of a bargain brand.
The BMW is great to drive and averages about 38mpg bit begrudge paying the higher RFL.
Convince me that a Sportage is a good car, good to drive, economical, quiet with good customer service.
I’m not feeling it at the moment.

Similar query —- any gotcha’s to buying a new Sportage 1.6T GDi HEV Auto GT-Line via carwow.
Especially keen to know if there’s any tweak/betterment to the engine/hev/power unit /drivetrain tech that’s coming out on the horizon. My usual luck would be to place an order today only for an announcement that the engine line up being improved somewhat if I had waited 2 more weeks.

Nothing that I’ve seen in any of the mags. I’d guess sometime in 2025 if the updated Tucson is next year.

Unlikely I’d have thought. Only today Kia “officially” launched the EV5, thought by many to be the electric Sportage. I can’t see Kia being overly worried about homologating an updated drivetrain with its replacement waiting in the wings, and a drivetrain that is only 2 years old at that. There might be a few more miles from the battery in the hybrids/PHEVs as battery tech improves, mind. But with that will come the inevitable increase in price.
