Google finds this for that part number stamped on the blue one

http://vikimotors.ru/index.php/component/option,co...

Says it's for a Ford Mondeo 3.0 V6 24V MEBA 01, so far so good.

This gives a wider list of Ford cars
http://shop.autokrake.de/index.php?NAV=detail&...

and this concurs
http://www.pluspiecesauto.com/f-Joint-de-culasse-1...

that it's compatible with
FORD MONDEO III (B5Y) 3.0 V6 24V 3 / 5 doors (204 hp) -
FORD MONDEO III (B5Y) ST220 3 / 5 doors (226 hp) -
FORD MONDEO III Three volumes (B4Y) ST220 Three volumes (226 hp) -
FORD MONDEO III Clipper (BWY) ST220 Break (226 hp) -
MAZDA MPV II (LW) 3.0 V6 MPV (200 hp) -

Had a phone call today from AW Tracksport who are cleaning up the pistons and checking the heads. one of my pistons needs to be replaced unfortunately.
the strip of material between the two piston rings had cracked and fell off while the piston was being cleaned. guess that's an excuse to upgrade....

am i the first big power car to find the limit of the standard pistons...

cheers

How much power was the engine producing? your discription of the faliure looks like you weren't using forged pistons

Did your engine builder advise you as to what could happen?

I'm not surprised the piston lands failed at that power! I would have thought 450hp would be the maximum you would want to run on the standard pistons.

Standard power on standard pistons doesn't always work well.

do you know if there was any det damage on the pistons

its better you found out now not later

i think the m400 pistons will fit straight onto your rods

two gt28 rs turbo's and you could have 600 plus bhp wink

Mine has run with 490bhp and 440lbft of torque for 2 years with no issues although Yellowshed did advise that I capped the power at that level !!!!!

Trevor (yellowshed) knew the build of the car and advised a cap at 450ftlbs torque. Which equated to 530bhp at whatever revs (can't remember exactly).

Perhaps the extra power and torque was enough to tip it over the edge but I suspect it would have failed even if id have had the same stats as Tux! It's not as though the car had done many miles on the new set up!

Cheers

I suspect you are correct James although it's disappointing when you consider my STD cast pistons have done 44000 miles and 3000 miles on track !!!! Tux

Mine seem to be hanging in ok on 510 and 480ft

Not done lots of miles lately but when I do it's driven proper.
