No worries mate, I used to be a skier, saw the light lol.

To bring it back on topic, I drove the noble today for the first time since the head gasket failed at Silverstone. So happy; No leaks which is cool. Up to temp with the fans kicking in and the exhaust isn't kicking out any smoke :-). Just a bit of tidying up tomorrow...

did another 70miles in the Noble on Sunday and no leaks/smoke/misfires etc, all good.

here's a couple of pics of the gearlinkage work i did. still haven't finished the top plate/gaiter but here was the hard work.

The square i cut into the top of the tunnel to drop the gear lever assy into place

here's the jetstream bracket in place inside the tunnel with the cables attached.

here you can see the two bolts holding the tunnel bracket in place on the drivers side. also you can see where i drilled the holes for the lever bracket before deciding to drop it lower in the tunnel. please with the final height of the gear lever

I tell you what though, best thing I've ever done. The gear change is transformed!

I'm not sure it needs to be re-mapped as I haven't really changed anything Fundermentally but I do want to get it on the rollers and have it checked

yes the gearchange is transformed over the old ball and rod lol

One tip for future people... cut the carpet along the top of the tunnel you can the peal it back down the sides.... due to the size of the mechanism you have to also make an all new gear gaitor like the GT03R which covers the entire top of tunnel and thus hides all the cuts in the carpet smile

If you speak to Jetstream they will be able to help you. I recommend you buy their kit if you are looking at this upgrade

cheers

its mondeo... but the lever itself is useless on it's own... you need all the cables and brackets in tunnel, plus the gearlever itself is modified.

As james has siad, unless you know exactly what goes in the kit and can fabricate it all, your only real option is to buy the kit.

Thanks for the clue, looks something like this?

I love to do it myself and if the cable length is not much different I can stretch with the threaded rod.
I want to run the cables above the gearbox and not above the cylinder (as now) so I will take a little time because I have to rebuild the bracket near the turret gear.

is this upgrade such a big difference ?

Just wondering, looks interesting ! Does Jetstream have a website with info on it or so ? It's just not around the corner wink

i can honestly say upgrading the gear linkage is one of the best things i have ever done on the car. My old gear change was a bit sloppy, "it's in there somewhere", and now it's tight and notchy in a good way. my mate drove my car before the rebuild and after and he was amazed at the difference. maybe i had a bad gear linkage before but from what i hear others were similar!

Jetstream do not have a website, from what i understand they have too much business from word of mouth. If you want to get in touch drop me an email and i will forward contact details. They are based at Bruntingthorpe Airfield.

here is a pic of the gear stick and bracket (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=26&t=1091482&mid=166257&i=40&nmt=New+shifter+linkage+&mid=166257). look at my post
this comes as a complete unit and you chop the bottom off before fitting. the gear stick has a slightly larger thread on than the original Noble one but i am going to work a way of getting the old gear knob to fit (maybe just run a tap down it).

cheers

James

Thank you very much for your help, you are very kind, for now I try to do it alone.

I'm sure jetstream will deliver to you mate. If not I'll buy it for you and post it on (obviously you'd have to give me the money :-))

Hi.
I'm Mondeo ST220 user.
After head gasket failed in my Duratec 3.0, I've noticed it's "blue" and looks the same like Jamescmr2 wrong gasketsmile

Jamescmr2 story probably explains why "blue" OEM gaskets fail so often even in naturally aspirated Mondeos ST220!

I've bought new gasket set from Victor Reinz and they are "black"!
Like the correct ones in Noble smile - It looks identical.
This should solve Mondeo ST220 notorious problem, I guess.
