A day at Jetstream

Just collected my Noble from Matt and Dave at Jetstream. Spot on!!!! A 160 mile drive home on a busy Friday afternoon after the service and various jobs only goes to remind me why I enjoy this car so much. Two hours in heavy slow moving traffic proved no problem to the cooling system and it gave the camera boys chance to take pictures. I saw at least five people take pictures whilst driving, these cars really do attract a following.
Another very satisfied Jetstream customer and at a very fair price considering the jobs completed. If there is anyone out there that still needs convincing about these guys then take it from me the service and attention to detail was excellent, I can't wait for my next excuse to visit.
If anyone takes the train, as I did, to Mkt Harbourgh. I would recommend using Mikes Taxi's. Recommended by Matt £20 quid and at the station with 15 mins notice. Knows the guys at Jetstream and a font of knowledge on Bruntingthorpe!

Although I trailered the car home, I had to take it out for a blast once home.
The car is transformed! (I've recently fitted Protechs too).
If there's anyone with a lesser than M400 model, wondering which mod will most improve the car, then it is most definitely the gear linkage.
Changing gear is such a pleasure now, rather than a fumble for where you think 3rd might be. I also feel much more in control of the car, because I'm instantly in the correct gear with both hands back on the wheel.

John I saw yours in the workshop when I picked mine up on Thursday, it looked very nice. The gear linkage mod is something I've looked at, only because mine has a very sharp and 'tight' gate. I've got all the old history for my car and there is no sign of a modification. Are they all bad as standard and I'm just lucky? or is it more likely mine must have been done at some stage in the past?
I ended up working for a few days out of Birmingham Airport and the company taxied me up there, so it made sense to get the train to Mkt Harborough and pick mine up. We almost need some sort of Jetstream visit thread to coordinate movements to and from there in the future?

Tim - the mod is quite obvious if you compare with one that's had it done. The shifter is moved and at a different angle - sort of raked back a little, despite the more precise gear selection. I'd tried Matt's car 2 years ago and decided that it needed doing. Have tried other Nobs since then that have had the mod done, and it's easy to feel the difference when the car's stationary.
The linkages get loose over time, so the existing links can be fettled to improve things. Maybe yours has had some attention in the past. Matt said that mine was actually not too bad, but it was still the only hesitating factor that I had when test driving my car prior to purchase, 2 years ago.
Next time you're at a Noble meet, ask around to see who's had it done, and try it out - you don't need to drive it to get an idea. Are you going to Rockingham?

I don't have any trouble finding gears but, particularly on track, I'd like to be able to slot in quicker. I previously had a Toyota powered Elise and that was much quicker to change gear.
Will the modification help with this or is it more about 'locating' the gears than the speed with which you can make the change?

Thanks for your response John, I'll try and 'feel' a few gear changes over the coming months. Yes I'm going to Rockingham but sadly no TDS as yet so no track time. I think Steve obes and Martin Bond are thinking of going so maybe a run up together? Are you staying the night or driving back?
