Discussion
Dear Noble owners,
GTO design said he'd post up some thoughts. Please see the design attached.
Subject to a group buy of acceptable numbers, he can produce this wheel with
the following specifications -
Model - GTO155
18x8.5 4-108 et 23 11.9kg
18x9.5 4-108 et 38 12.5kg
19x8.5 4-108 et 23 12.6kg
19x9.5 4-108 et 38 13.0kg
Construction - Cast
Standards - JWL + VIA
This is a naturally strong design, it was only designed for fast road use
and they will need to conduct further testing to see if it would be suitable
for the track, they should be stronger than the WAW originals.
If enough people are interested a complete set of 4 wheels would cost
£595.00 inc VAT.
Best regards
Dylan

See my earlier posts. M12 GTO Fronts are about 11kg, rears about 13kg. The GTO Design wheels are approx same weight. The standard Noble wheels are not as heavy as reputation would have it.

Paul that is heavy! Fikse's of the same size weigh 9KG or so. If you watched the Daytona 24hr they were on 1/2 the cars, the same will be true of LeMans. I have had 2 sets on Porsches and can attest to the quality. I paid $2300/set for 17x8.5's and 17x10's. I have always changed wheels and brake pads for the track and there was a dramatic difference in acceleration on track wheels. Some of that may was the tires as I ran Hoosiers which are amazingly light. check out www.wheelweights.net 18x10's have a 5+ KG range, that is alot of rotating/unsprung mass to accelerate and brake.

Dear JMG,
Well vs a professional Daytona race wheel yes they are heavy but that's not what they're made for. I'm desperately trying to get some lighter track/race wheels made for a Noble but so far no one I've contacted has come up with anything other than promises - except that is Dylan at GTO Design. Yes I know about FIKSE. I've asked, faxed and e-mailed FIKSE, I've even filled in their measurements form but so far I've had no (zero, nil, none, nothing) response whatsoever from them. If you are on their side of the pond could you try to chivvy them up for us please?
Dylan, on the other hand, at GTO Design has been as good as his word, he said he'd come up with something and he has and the prices are a blinder. If you want road wheels for an M12 I can't see anyone coming close to that price. Road wheels are necessarily heavier than race wheels for durability reasons and you are right Dylan's are no lighter than any other but in my opinion they are an excellent balance between design/weight/price.
I'm waiting for him to come up with his suggestions for some race wheels.
PS - I'm not a GTO Design or Faulks preformance salesman, I'm just telling people about the things I come across during my enquiries. If anyone wants to buy his wheels deal direct please.

Something that just came out over here in the US that sounds pretty interesting, though costly. Carbon fiber hoop & barrel, magnesium spokes. Custom designs available for the spokes.

Since custom spoke designs are available, that's not the only look you need to go with.
In 18 x 10.5" (the largest size they have available), it's 8 lbs (3.6 kg) in the magnesium. Hollow titanium spokes are coming in a few months, and should be 5.5 lbs (2.5 kg).

Uh...wouldn't Carbon Fibre shatter on impact, and if memory serves from some BBS GT2 race wheels I had on a Porker, magnesium cracks over time.
I like the GTO wheels, count me in!
That would be my thinking as well but that does not necessarily make it true.
There is more indepth discussion of them at these links
