Anyone have any experience of this and would it work on our nobles. http://rallycarsforsale.net/ads/paddle-shifting-fo...

That looks very nice, there are a lot of kits out there, I don't think anyone has actually fitted one, I think the fragility of the gearbox sort of undermines anything else.

Transmissions have moved on significantly over the years ,I had a Golf R32 as a daily with the DSG box and being dual clutch is a fantastic upgrade on a conventional fluid flywheel auto box.

Currently using a BMW m3 E46 SMG as a daily and it's ancient compared with the DSG but I bet it was the dogs when it came out in the late 90's early 2000's.

I often wonder what a sequential shift/ h shifter in a Noble would be like. No doubt about it a modern dual clutch box is much faster than any driver it just comes down to the ultimate control when an automated system doesn't get it quite right .

The clutch is the thing that slows the gear changes down in the noble.

Ive never broken a box and I do full throttle shifts etc.

Only if your main goal is to improve the speed of the shift... my clutch isn't nice on downshifts and require heal and toe for every downshift even on the road.

Of cause my clutch would be awesome along with this sequential shifter as it does the downshifts as well.... my point was this shifter wouldn't be that fast with the standard clutch.

As Graham has found out, if you want a fast road/race car with all the modernday trappings, then buy a modern race car. Our cars are old and therefore have to be driven accordingly and have their limitations.
We drove for 1/4 of a race without the engine cut-out working and knackered 4 of of our 5 gears (albeit dog and not synchromesh) I just wouldn't bother wasting your money on this, (Andy is the exception!!!) One the basis the engine has to come out (unless you have adapted the frame) to get to the gearbox, this is sure fire way of burning money.

I imagine it would be good for a track car, but a road car? Possibly. It seems a lot of the motoring journo's at the moment rave about cars that go back to basics in terms of driver involvement. Porsche gt4 & 911 R. Renault rs16 (if they ever make it), golf gti clubsport etc. All manuals. We have it seems, exactly what people want. Why change that?
