I have a project for winter and need some help and ideas.. Just bought a 3 litre engine for the Noble and am now working on the plans of what to do with it.

Current setup is a 2.5 litre, 5 speed with LSD, it has the exhaust off a 3 litre fitted (not standard item but not sure of the manufacturer) and a slightly larger than stock Faulks I/C, MBE ecu, TDS.. The new engine is rated to 500bhp has a new oil pump and has a TDS..

I need to make a list of what is needed to make this work.

As this is a fresh build I could go with almost any spec setup, how would you run? Initial thoughts are the gearbox will need strengthening, I will at least need new manifolds and turbos (or do I go single turbo), possibly exhaust, and fuel pump.. then there is the ignition side of things..

has anyone done this before? or know of specific differences between the 2 engines...I have searched with no luck.

Is this a new car or a engine transplant? If transplant what did you need to do..

Engine transplant. Had to change a fair bit.

But i changed from a 5 speed to a six speed box at the same time. So you wouldn't need to change as much if you stick with the 5 speed.
And from all the things i changed i probably wouldnt remember if it was because of the new engine or new box.

regarding changing from the 2.5-3.0L

The gearbox, clutch, flywheel, drive and intermediate shafts will fit.

Gear lever and cables will fit.

Gearbox mounts will fit, only question mark will be the engine mount on the upper drivers side, I probably have one if its different.

Exhaust 'should' fit, but i am unsure of the manifolds... easy to obtain second hand 3.0L ones if they are different.

The biggest question is the loom, If you have a MBE ecu it should be almost identical as the sensors are mostly in the same place, but its a detail of information i don't know about... maybe Steve can confirm what he did with his?

of cause turbos, injectors, inlet manifold etc will be different... i guess it depends how much of the 3.0L engine you obtained.

I had a new loom made as the coils are a different set up from memory

Also there is a piece of pipework that is on the side of the engine that conects both heads with water. I re-used the one off the 2.5 coz its metal and the 3L one was plastic. Also the 3L one doesnt have a sensor in that we need to use.

Yeah I also have this on the Facebook page, just trying to reach a wider audience.

many thanks to all with input.

I have the engine, loom (MBE onwards), injectors, fuel rail and now a Pro Alloy I/C. I need manifolds, turbos, fuel pump as main components. My existing exhaust is from a 3 litre (its not a standard item tho) so should be good. Apart from various pipeworks am just reaching out to see if there are any gotcha's, good to hear about the engine mount..

I have engine mounts spare and will be selling my 2 genuine 044's (as I'm going for fuel speed control and as such can fit an A1000 now).

I also have one good M400 manifold (sold the other one 2 mths ago).

Im also going to be selling my complete blue ACT water pipe kit as I'm changing mine to red and going to electric pump and thus most of them will work for me going forward anyhow, this is an expensive kit.
