To me, it just looks like a slightly smaller Model X.
I hope they'd have a bit more imagination than that. They really don't need a launch event if it's just a pensioner special version of the Model 3.Hopefully it'll have a load of new tech and features to stand it apart.

Same, front isnt the same more like the 3 (more angle between bonnet and windscreen), back is very similar.I'm not particularly keen on the X looks in photos, its better in reality but still somewhat frumpy.

I hope not too much. the basic ingredients are model 3 hardware (screen, battery etc) It will get HW3. Much more and it will push the price up too much.I expect it will get maxwell tech in the batteries but at the same time the 3 does.

I hope they'd have a bit more imagination than that. After all, a new Model X is a circa £100k car, so it isn't a bad idea to use the same basic silhouette.
And besides, if they get rid of the nutty gull wing Model X rear doors, keep the Model 3's newly increased charging rate and decent range, retain decent performance, dramatically increase the practicality by increasing the boot size, and keep the starting cost to around £40k, I think it will be extremely popular.

No, I think a Model Y will look like an inflated Model 3. The Model 3 isn't bad looking, an inflated Model 3 has potential to echo the looks of the cars favoured by pensioners as mentioned above.
I do know owners of both Model S and X although I haven't driven the X. Neither are pensioners to answer your question.

I know plenty of both. I'd average an estimate that Model X owners are c20yrs younger than Model S drivers.I do know owners of both Model S and X although I haven't driven the X. Neither are pensioners to answer your question.

I also very very very seldom see an obvious pensioner in an SUV. I can't help but thinking your OAP/SUV assumption is very wide of the mark. Having seen 100s of Model 3s, driven one, and been passengered in approaching a dozen others, it is the most 'pensioner' car in the range IMO.

I think you are probably right. At the end of the day, people tend to buy an SUV sized car if you need the space (generaly for family reasons) and you prefer the looks vs an estate car or a MPV. Not many pensioners will fit this type of criteria.I know plenty of both. I'd average an estimate that Model X owners are c20yrs younger than Model S drivers.

I'm probably putting it across wrong, I don't mean their target demographic is pensioners just that a tall roofed hatchback version of the Model 3 could look like those cars pensioners favour as they are usually inflated high roofed versions of normal models.
Maybe the thing won't look so gopping in the flesh, it'll not be pretty if it is a Model X/3 mash up in the looks department.

It would be hard for them to fk it up tbh, production shouldn't be anywhere near as much of a challenge, and its a bigger and growing market segment.
The model 3 in USA even though its mostly the higher priced model has sold incredibly well and its hurting lower end cars like the hondas etc as well as the premium sedan segment.
I get the feeling the model 3 is the EV spiritual successor of the VW beetle somehow.
