its about realistic expectations, in my experience all cars have problems and all manufacturers drag their heals when sorting them
Absolutely, but not highlighting issues doesn't do Tesla any favours, they need to learn how to build cars better, and if us customers don't push them who is?As for the whole waiting 4 weeks for an diagnostic appointment via a phone app when the every time you turn the wheel, that's just BS.
As I've already said (and experienced my self), the customer service in these situations is actually very good and quick. However denying there is no problem or waiting 4 weeks for a service appointment is 'fine' is just been blind to very real improvements Tesla need to make.
In the end I just bodged it as it took 15 mins of my time.
I get through cars quite quickly so have joined many car specific forums (BMW M3/AMG/Audi RS/GRT etc) over the years and there are always plenty of posts with things going wrong or failing or new and newly cars.
I remember the Nissan GT-R R35 when it was launched having issues with the pedestrian safety system if a bird hit you which was a big, expensive fix and the BMW M3's cracking sub frame to name two.

That does look very nice.
I got overtaken by a white one today and though the front was pseudo swoopy, with no front grill, the problem was it was still a plastic Beko fridge freezer on wheels.
And what example of automotive exotica were you in when you got overtaken?I got overtaken by a white one today and though the front was pseudo swoopy, with no front grill, the problem was it was still a plastic Beko fridge freezer on wheels.
I love it so much I got the number plate to match the car model number !

I didn't expect so many pages since my last visit.
If you can spare the time look at these two vids for poor quality control

considering the price that is disgraceful and reminds me of the faults with Tesla. Both are great cars let down by the little boring stuff. Bit like TVR in the day, or Land Rover .. I know we are British and have a stiff upper lip but there is only so much it can take
It reminded me of this guy on twitter
https://twitter.com/tesla_up1/status/1178027631486...
where a bit just fell off. He's a top bloke, rather than just going on twitter and talking about the share price he goes out and drives it, loves the car, reports the faults, like software stuff but no major hassles apart from that. He had a toyota before, more reliable bit boring. A neutral viewpoint like 99% of drivers who are just going a to b.
This is where I see Tesla going wrong. They have to be really exciting and push the envelope as well as being as boring as Toyota and Honda when it comes to reliability. Asking people to look at bolts when they would rather look at volts is not a disruptive game changer.....
The elephant in the room for Tesla is if they have a major mandated recall for Model 3s by the authorities. Then they will be royally screwed. They even said as much in their last Quarterly filing..... can you imagine?
It's not likely to happen in fairness, but if it does then it will a Boeing MCAS type moment.

That's just a few hits from a quick search, lots of Model 3 steering columns have been replaced. Not sure if that's the issue with yours though but steering noises seem to be fairly common.
Being that loud it should be fairly simple to locate.
1 not a problem no action
1 "foreign object from factory process loose in passenger footwell ducting".
1 steering column form October this year
I dont go searching random problems on TMC tho , and thats out of 400,00+ potential cars. Welcome to the internet, where 1 problem in 50,000 is a big issue..
I'm not saying it doesnt suck or isnt a problem but its certainly not filtered up to be a general fault.
In other news we've actually had rain the last couple days - on 40.2.2 yesterday I disabled auto wipers as it was misty and wiping far too much for my liking, heavier rain today seemed to be fine.
My M3P arrived and I was expecting to find lots of issues needing resolving but I have been pleasantly surprised by the build quality.
It was certainly better than the internet would have you believe.
There were a couple of marks on the paint but they soon polished out. Panel fit is very good and I haven’t felt the need to book any service calls.
The trouble with reading stories on the internet is that the unhappy customers tend to make more noise than happy ones.

You don't ever seem to offer help, just snipe at people. Not very nice.
I offer plenty of help and positive posts , but yes I snipe at people who I feel deserve it.You are constantly negative on tesla, you dont own one and have no intention of owning one and you have even changed your forum username I assume to appear a different person now when posting.

Had ours for 2 weeks now. No technical issues whatsoever so far but both the bonnet and boot are misaligned and there are blemishes in the paint on both roof rails. Also have a loose rear seat cushion and the latch/light in the frunk was hanging off when it was delivered (took 30 seconds to sort). It was certainly better than the internet would have you believe.

Nothing end of the world but needs to improve.

Enjoy, what colour did you opt for in the end? I've seen a few locally and the silver (grey?) seems to suit it best. Not seen any blue ones at all.
I saw the ID3 thread earlier and think that's probably a wise move, the early ones are likely to be a little rough around the edges and overpriced. I'm not convinced the interior is that good either seeing the videos so far on it.
Deep Metallic Blue, its a bit dull in low light but looks great when the sun shines.I saw the ID3 thread earlier and think that's probably a wise move, the early ones are likely to be a little rough around the edges and overpriced.
