Probably not, but did you have Sentry mode on?
Mine is on all the time, a quick scroll would reveal the culprit.
The person left a note, so not sure what use Sentry would be smile Easy to gloss over that though because this is probably only the 1 out of 1000 situation where the other party actually admitted fault.

Regards the damage - it depends what's needed really. Tesla will just farm it out to a subcontractor, so if it doesn't actually need any new parts - just pulling out the dent and a respray - then you might as well go to whoever comes well regarded locally.

Turns out the mobile number has 9 digits. Sentry cam came good though!

Might have let it go tbh, but foul play just tips the balance.

Guess it shows sentry works for this kind of thing.

As anyone had with a parking bump with a Tesla before? I've had someone bump my car whilst parking, and they left a note. Bit of a dent and scratches.

Amazingly this is the first time this has happened to me.

First instinct was to just forget about it as not planning on selling anytime soon, it doesn't bother me personally, and can't be fked with the hassle.

But now I'm thinking I should probably get it checked out. Maybe it costs a fortune to fix. Is it a tesla app thing? Time without the car? I have to call insurers?

What a pain in the ass.
Depends which panels are damage and how bad, if they've left a note though I'd just pass it on to the insurance to sort out.

Man that sucks. Maybe someone clocked them doing it so they wrote a note as a performative act.

That feels worse to me. At least with no note you could convince yourself that they might not have known they hit you (still annoying though), but with this they knew they did it and didn’t take responsibility.

Sounds a little unlikely to be honest.

Looking at the video, there was a gaggle of teenagers hanging around nearby, and the alarm was going off. There was theatrical head holding and note writing and subsequent theatrics. Reported it to 101, just asked for a number for insurance. But they insisted on 'investigating it, in case there was a misunderstanding'. Maybe just a line.

So it seems Tesla is a snitch.

I'm confused, did it show teenagers damaging your car or another car bumping into it?

All a bit weird...

I admit my writing is a little unclear, but if you put 10 seconds of thought into it, you should be able to put the scene together.

Or not, I'm not saying it's worth it. But if you want to play detective, at least read the post twice.

Turns out the police visited them this morning. Surprised to be honest, you would have thought they would have other stuff to do. But it's all sorted now.

No it's just you said it was a parking bump with dents and scratches. Then it was teenagers hanging around.

I'm now putting 2+2 together and it must have been said teenagers who drove into your car and then hung around deciding what to do before putting fake note on your car.

Have I got the quiz correct? smile

The guy wrote a (fake) note because there were onlookers (teenagers).

To be fair to the bloke, it was unclear, and you were being a bit snarky at his reply which didn't seem at face value to be calling you out or anything. "All a bit weird" I took to mean the circumstances, not your story or its validity.

You introduced the teenagers and the fact the alarm was going off, with the implication that they might have had something to do with it, when it seems - or not - they were simply what prompted the actual perpetrator to do his bit of performance art and write the fake note.

Don't bite my head off plz.

Sorry for the spam. Does anyone know if it's possible to test for accuracy or damage to front radar in a tesla? (DIY)

Does it not self test constantly and flag any issues? If it's not working perfectly I'd expect it to shut off and warn you as would be a major safety concern?
