In my experience the car (M3P) feels perceptibly faster if it's above 75% charge and ideally also preconditioned. That does make it a bit of a different proposition to an ICE performance car where the power is consistent.
Unless you go above sea level.Or you fill it with a lesser brand of fuel.
Iirc there was a chart of it (0-60 compared to battery charge) and you'd have to get well below half charge to make it noticeable.
In my Model S I can't feel the difference until I'm sub 20% (and the battery icon turns orange).

There are Chinese Model 3's coming in soon due to not being able to sell them to the home market, so you should be able to haggle a better price because Tesla make a bigger gross margin.
Also they will probably be better built than the USA equivalents.
Translation:Also they will probably be better built than the USA equivalents.
We're going to be getting more Chinese cars as they are cheaper to produce, price might come down if they think it can increase their demand but haggling is not something that's done at Tesla.

Battery temp makes a noticeable difference. Definitely feels quicker straight after a DC charge session with the same SOC compared to cold
Now that does sound familiar. Much like my diesel before, when I just drove the car it feels snappier.Deffo some warm-up benefits to EV's as well.
Don't have the P, but I gather they want to pre-condition the battery before launch?

Battery temperature
State of charge
Drive unit temperature
Inverter temperature
Managing these becomes more important on track where we're looking for optimum performance for as long as possible, but the main things to think about on the road are battery temperature and SoC.
So keeping the SoC above 90% and preconditioning for at least an hour in cold weather before you set off will give you the fastest acceleration.

Such is now.
Wait till the future...
The more time goes on the more Tesla starts to look like legacy car makers on what they offer.

I'm under orders to not do it without warning. After my wife thought it would be funny to catch me out with it whilst leaning forward to change the track on Spotify I know why. my neck ached for 2 days..
It's a hell of a party piece and one I don't think ICE drivers can really understand until it's been experienced. The throttle response and overtaking ability are if anything more impressive than the 0-60 time.

Moving back to the actual driving, I'm surprised myself how underwhelming it was and I didn't come back buzzing wanting to buy one immediately like I thought I might. In a way this has been a good experience as now I can wait a while and ponder and mull it over again.
In summary it seems to be a great EV and has lots going for it in the charging network, app etc... The acceleration and ease of that acceleration is impressive but it's just not something you'd really use to its full that often.
It's not a no but it's certainly something to think about whether to buy one or not, that has been the biggest surprise to me. I thought I'd be home and straight to the order page
My exact feelings having driven one a few weeks ago. A 50k car with mad acceleration and I just thought 'Yeah, it was ok.' Weird. In summary it seems to be a great EV and has lots going for it in the charging network, app etc... Agreed...same here. The M3P is the first car I’ve owned that I don’t wake up and think “I’d love a drive in it today”
And if you were getting one again, do you think the P version is worth the premium over the LR version?I am currently considering whether to change my i-pace for a model 3. Would prefer the usability of the Model Y but seems like that is going to be another 12-18 months before it is readily available. Normally I would be inclined to pick the faster version, but I'm just wondering if the more sensible choice would be the LR with the acceleration software update.

The M3P is quicker 0-30 than the LR with acceleration software update, handles a bit better and has bigger brakes and nicer alloys as standard. It also has track mode, which is a giggle. But in standard form the suspension and brakes aren't really up to extended track work anyway. And the smaller alloys / tyres mean the LR has materially more range. Plus you can get a towbar on the LR for things like bike racks.
I would be tempted to get the LR if I was buying now. It's close and either would be fine, but the extra £3k off would clinch it.
