EAP is now available for Model 3s (again) at £3400. No idea if it will disappear again, although it is on the configurator (can't remember if it was last time).

You basically get 99% of what FSD does for half the price.

Because I'm an idiot I paid for FSD when I bought the car, so I'll just drive up to some traffic lights over and over so I can feel better about pissing £3400 down the drain smile

Day 2 of TM3 ‘ownership’ here, following 5 years in a Merc C350e.

It’s when I delve a bit deeper into needing something from the screen it all went to pot, where’s the bloody radio?! What should be intuitive, meant pulling over and swiping around like a deranged ninja! I tried the voice control too but even my best BBC newsreader voice was met with a Gallic shrug of dismissal for finding some tunes, calling the missus or setting the nav for home - cue more screen prodding.

It's true 15k miles and I still fumble for the radio. Needs a dedicated icon .
confused

It's here guys, no swiping or searching required unless you have satnav at full pane constantly and even then a quick swipe upward on the entertainment pane will get you access.

Took me a while to spot your yellow arrow wink

Some people don't even use the radio so I can kind of understand it, but swiping up to get to a menu to switch the the radio on.... I'd swap it for the rear defroster, which is pretty useless anyhow given the reverse camera rules.

Joe mode needs a big buff.

So radio is swipe up, locate button, press.. then what?

Why can I not just have a configurable button, always available with Radio5live on it so I can list to the cricket, and another button next to it listening to spotify when the cricket isn't on?

You can, get a car with configurable buttons.

Seriously, the controls are not that complicated. Just get in a Velar for a minute, start driving and I challenge you to set the heater while you're in it for the first time.
When I had a early '00s Mercedes, no-one who didn't could figure out how to turn on the lights. Was their rotating dial a bad solution? I don't think so.
Was it dangerous to figure out while driving?
Absolutely.

The first thing we learned when driving was get familiar with the controls. There are some things I don't like about the controls on the model 3, but the radio and heater are front and center and were no issue for me the first time I got in one...

As for DrJFoster, out of your 33 posts it seems like over half of them are just you visiting Tesla topics to bash Tesla? What's up with that?

I did learn the controls, then they sent a software update that moved stuff around, broke stuff and had to be learnt again. And of course half the time I've actually pressed the right button but the software was so rubbish it didn't work. I spent ages looking up the voice commands, pressing a button, waiting for beep, hmm no work.. try before the beep.. nope, wait a few seconds after the beep.. nope, try louder.. nope... and eventually you realise its not operator error, its just junk software. Meanwhile the cars slamming on the brakes when there's a modicum of sunlight and a bridge.

I stupidly had the car through work and I'm locked into the pile of ste for another 2 years and if I can encourage 1 person to think twice before falling for the clap trap that I see day in day out from the "Musk is god" brigade then good.

But carry on believing if that makes you happy.

My screen always looks like that, so no swipe up required to access the radio. You can also just press the music symbol icon in the bottom bar and then choose radio. You'll then have a list of available stations and it'll default back to the last you listened to.

Really not hidden away and very easy to alternate between Spotify and radio should you wish to do, if you can't cope with that then the modern world must be a serious challenge to navigate daily?

Ok, it wasn't clear to me that you actually had one.
Fair enough if your experience so far has been terrible, but you have to realize that a lot of people see it the other way?

Finding it aggravating that you have to learn something new when an update arrives does sound like you've picked the wrong car, or, as you stated, got it forced on you by work?
It's part of the deal, most people who pick a Model 3 like gadgets. They swap phones because "new and shiny" and don't mind having to learn along the way, it's part of the novelty.

I found the voice control also hit and miss, but no worse than Siri. The only one I find that really works for me is the one from Google, and AFAIK there's only one car so far equipped with that?

I find the voice control hit and miss, which is pretty much the same as every other car I've owned.

The radio/infotainment is easy to use once you've been using it. Swipe up.

If you are not very good with technology then don't get an advanced car, with advanced touchscreen controls. I would not buy my parents a Tesla because they would not be able to use the touchscreen, get a car which suits you. Complaining you cant find the radio is ridiculous, you press a music icon and select radio.

To be honest on my Model 3 I preferred the screen before an update, I delayed it for ages and it meant the map then became smaller and I ended up with a massive car on the right hand side of the screen.

Some of the icons changed on the bottom as well and I preferred it before, it just seemed like making changes for the sake of it to me...

The biggest issue for me in terms of the screen is the wipers as I just wish it was on a stalk, I didn't realised you could single wipe pressing the stalk though until it was pointed out on here which did help a lot.

It surprises me anyone with a brain finds it complex however, its fairly intuitive still and among the best infotainment screens I have tried I just wish it had a few more physical buttons and a wiper/light stalk.

Agree on the new screen layout. Less space provided for the useful information in order to offer more room for FSD visualisation that most don't care about. Definite backward step for a car with just a single screen for information.

Have to admit, plenty of people love to complain about these while obviously never been near one.

Spend two minutes before you set off, go through the radio stations, and save all your "Favourites", then LH Scroll wheel, up/down=Volume, Left/Right=move through your favourites.

That kinda sums up my beef with everything being buried in the screen of misfortune. It gives the impression I’m a slave to the car, having to find an organise everything to make it functional, rather than the manufacturer having done their homework, come up with a driver-centric design where things are intuitively at their fingertips. Especially given there’s generally something a tad more important to de concentrating on, like driving, so the car should be the slave. Still, think of the BIK savings!

Actually great video from Matt, he's being quite critical about it and echoes some of the critiques on here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtxMYGxQ9Zc&ab...

You can also skip to the conclusion ( 24:40), where he probably pisses off everyone at once hehe
