I’m going out on a limb, first look was WTF. Second look “ I quite like that”. I’m scared to look again in case I really like it.

So what's the idea with the armoured glass? Security is one thing, but the largest effect I see that having is limiting access/egress in the event of an accident.

This thing embodies why I don't 'get' Tesla. Everything they do feels like their product planning department is run by a 14 year old boy.

The guys at Rivian must be very happy.
Rivians base spec 2wd is more than the CYBRTRK top spec 3 motor awd with 500 mile range.

2022 deliveries for the base model, 2023 for the top spec.

In Tesla time that 2024-2025 at the earliest.

That was the least inspiring launch they've done, even Musk looked bored with it all.

All Musk was lacking was a set of water skis, a shark, and Fonzie.
...more like a dressing gown, a roasted chicken, beers and a fishing rod.

I really like it. It's totally bananas, which is what the electric car had promised us all along. Want.

Honestly I think that's it, I'd rather be able to get out if needed but I don't live in USA.

"So Elon, how many polygons are in the model of the new Cybertruck you've designed?"

"12"

"Wow, 12 million, that's a lot of detail..."

"No, 12"

Funny, I was just thinking that we are now in a time when computers can render such complex
And intricate designs, yet we now get presented with this which looks like it came out of an early 90’s video game!

It is certainly a 'bold' design. I'm sure, as always, the finished product will look nothing like the show car.
Agreed. It doesn’t really look production like.

Nice to see they let Elon have a go with the pencil. Shame all he was doing was tracing the Aston Martin bulldog concept.

Why was this moved from General Gassing where we can take the piss?

Certainly that's where I looked before posting my own "this has to be a joke right?" thread...

Either way, presumably it's just a publciity stunt to get us all frantically talking about it?

Better hurry up with FSD, then they can sell that thing to the blind.

Fair play to Musk, nothing he ever releases can be described as boring biggrin

My guess is his target market is "tech entrepreneur's / west coast demographic", it'll be a much harder sell down south in Texas...............

In the office this morning.

I really don't know what to make of it, it will make the world a more interesting place, which is a good thing in my opinion.

It'll split opinion but here's an interesting fact.

The base model is only $500 more than the SR+ model 3.

There's heaps of companies bringing our trucks soon looking hard at that pricing.

This feels like one of those situations where the external design consultancy said 'How should a Tesla pickup make your teeth feel?' and asked loads of people at a cost of sixty million dollars and then this happened but it cost too much to fix.

I'm going on the record as saying the final vehicle released in this country will not look like this dog's dinner, and if it does they'll sell not more than three.

Am I correct in assuming large pickups are classified differently and thus don't have to meet the same pedestrian safety regs?

Flat / sharp angled steel that doesn't dent upon sledgehammer impact would presumably do an excellent job of obliterating human skulls hehe
