What a bunch of muppets. This is why most car companies do prototypes and concept cars, not full product launches before they even figured out how to make the bloody thing.
Really?

Didnt the video just say they would make the car 5% smaller but it would pretty much be the same.

A bulletproof car is cool though, although it would be the next getaway vehicle of choice.

Isn't the Cybertruck in the video a prototype by definition?
It's a different way of developing, get the bloody thing made and see where they can improve it.
The Cybertruck can be another game changer. Let's just hope it doesn't turn out to be another Delorean, where they also planned of having the chassis removed as the bodywork could be structural enough, but couldn't make it work in the end.

At the very least it'll stop Telsa haters from complaining about the paint job.

I have a deposit down and the size was an issue. 5% smaller and it may work over here.

A few other changes may soften it a bit too so I was quite happy to read they are revising it a bit.

If it's a prototype why were they taking reservations for one?

Or are their reservations "you will get something a bit like this, lend us some cash interest free and we might let you buy it one day"?

Yep, and the probably don't do anything for when you get it either. It's a free loan for Tesla, but I think this time it's more of a check what kind of interest there is, at a fully refundable $100.

I think it has something to do with the fact that pickup trucks/LGVs fall in a different category than passenger cars in the states and are tested differently.
Still, won't make it to Europe like that.

To enable Tesla to demonstrate future demand, sobkeep share price high and so get to borrow more cash 'today'.

Clever aren't they? As if a $100 refundable reservation is in any way representative of the number of actual potential buyers. smile

You say that but the history of the company simply says something different.

Model 3, Model Y were sold on reservations, I think they have proven themselves enough to follow through on their promises, some items are a bit late I agree but still.

We have the Cybertruck, Semi Truck and the hypercar coming soon.

I bet when the M3 was launched you were saying the car has no interior, it wont be like that when its launched.

Yep always the same.

Teslas demo cars are very much like the production ones, which are always better rather than worse like everyone else's..

Model Y was literally 1 year from reveal to customer hands, more range and faster etc.

Semi was announced ages ago wasn't it?
Roadster was what, early last year.
Then cybertruck

Will they announce some other segment this year, or say a pipeline of 3 is enough to be getting on with.

It's substantially different though.

3 wasn't that long from reveal to production either, just took a while to scale that up.

Audi took 10 years for the etron and the specs crashed. Porsche took many years for the taycan and the specs crashed. It also lost all the cool looks etc

According to their website they want to make some sort of bus too, but 3 isn't exactly a large number when you look at how many cars Mercedes offer (and are probably working on)

Will they continue investment in building the factories or just buy the land, and then wait now due to Covid?

As if demand isn't there then factories wont be needed.

How much cash have they got?

Their CEO does seem to be a very talented businessperson so I am sure they have a strategy.

They had about $8bn cash end of last quarter results.

GF Shanghai isnt costing them any cash because its all local cheap loans.
GF Berlin is being paid for by FCA

I think they will be fine....

Rob, have you thought about setting up a Tesla focused website?

Reading your answers nowadays, you seem to have developed encyclopaedic knowledge of Tesla. You should try to make money out of it.
