Anyone else feel they should have sold the car at peak used value back in the summer? I decided against it at the time but kind of regret it now.

I quite like the idea of buying a used V8 with plentiful parts and spares in the system and running that for a few years while the EV market and the global supply problems get sorted out. Potentially waiting 6 months for replacement parts is a continued risk with all new vehicles but especially the EV market it seems.

But I am also bored with the car a bit. Apart from the remote climate functionality I hate all the tech as well.

Get both. I love my MY and it ticks all of the boxes for day to day running. I don’t particularly enjoy driving the other ICE runarounds in the family so bought a Caterham for the adrenaline bursts at weekends.

As above - have both.

I have a Tesla and a V8 convertible for the summer.

The Tesla is the perfect driving appliance - I've not had a problem in 30,000 swift and silent miles. I've also not missed queuing for petrol, £1,000 services or the price of filling up.

If you're only doing 50 miles a week for fun, then get rid of it - but if you're using it regularly for the dull and boring drives that make up 99% of what we do, it's a keeper.

What did you have and what do you have now?

Why do you hate the tech by the way?

I mothballed a 997 to go EV and don’t regret it for a minute, the EV is so much better.

I have had a variety of high performance hatch backs and saloons from the german manufacturers.

Previous to the Tesla M3P was a BMW i3s which was a gorgeous little thing but just not suitable for the occasional long range trip.

As for the tech, as an example I resent having to pull over to set the climate control a bit lower as the car did not understand the voice control and my left hand is not steady enough on pot holed roads to touch the correct spot on the screen to adjust the control - just give me a dial with adjustability and tactility for chrissakes.

I don't hate the car, there are some things it is really good at but after 2 and a half years I am a little bored of it. There is also a vanishingly small opportunity to own a V8 or something like that - plenty of time after that to go back to EVs.

Yes I know what you mean, I was really conflicted before switching (I had a BMW 650 before the 997 which was a lovely thing). I’ve only taken the 997 out once I’m the 2 months since getting the EV though and I was surprised that it felt a bit underwhelming by comparison.

Agree re the touch screens although that’s not just EVs, I put mine on lane assist and adaptive cruise so it pretty much drives itself if I want to adjust anything but it would be so much better if they just had a couple of physical dials I agree.

I've just had to go back to a hire Fiat 500 for a few weeks whilst I wait for my MY to come. I wouldn't recommend it biggrin
