Thanks,LFP showing useable 52.5kwh and another forum user on another thread saying he gets 2.8 miles/kWh in winter in his car.

That’s 147 100% to totally stranded - so far away from claimed 305 miles it may as well be a different car.

In summer at 4 miles/kWh still only 210. Range claims still seem to be bordering on fraud on all EV makers adverts.

Still I remember only a year or two ago people on here claimed 50 mile range was enough because the average U.K. use is 30mikes a day - seems moronic now.
Depends doesn't it. For many people a Leaf with a knackered battery delivering 50 miles of range would still be enough for the majority of people in reality.

It'd be an ideal park and ride car assuming you could home charge.

Financial Times - "Tesla cars lose value faster than rival models after price cuts" - www.ft.com/content/27ce84f8-915f-48f0-b4a6-2824235...

"The value of second-hand Tesla cars has collapsed since the electric-vehicle maker embarked on a series of price cuts for new models in the past six months, according to sales data.

The value of a new Model 3 with a long-range battery bought in January this year in the UK for £57,435 is forecast to fall 46 per cent to £31,300 by January 2024, according to industry pricing agency CAP HPI.

This compares with only a 4 per cent fall over 12 months for the same model purchased in September 2021, which cost £48,435 new and was worth £46,300 a year later."
I mean, A that's bleedin obvious and B those 'before' prices are just ridiculous, £60k for a Model 3.

Just sit down and think about that for a second sixty thousand pounds, utterly insane.

Well firstly a NEW RWD car doesn;t have a useable 52.5kwh battery, thats the older car.

Secondly, the RWD car is the most frugal of all Teslas, so if someone is only getting 2.8 miles per kwh in a RWD car, they'd be getting even less in a LR

Thirdly, the person that was getting 2.8 miles per kwh probably had a pre heat pump car and was using it in winter. A new car with a heat pump works much better in winter.

Pistonheads is not the website to get proper advice on Tesla.

It doesn't look like the price dropped worked that well, I was expecting quite large numbers this month

They have sold 1992 fewer cars than last year to date.

I've been watching this manufacturing cost reduction that tesla is achieving with more than a few concerns...

What seems to be happening is he is reducing the part count, by consolidating. For example the main body she'll on the model y is going to be made of 3 cast parts. Does this mean the car can no longer be easily or cost efectively repaired in the event of an accident? Also ss and when something breaks, the replaceable unit will as the car gets older be a significant portion of the cars value.

Are we seeing a disposable but recyclable car?

The glory days have gone and EV’s will be priced like the rest of the market. I was looking at used iX’s and a 50 can be had for £75k down from nearly £100k new. So 25% done in 18months. Not very cheap motoring but probably expected with such a chunky list.
I have just bought a used iX50 at 14 months old and about one third below list price (lots of extras but still 20% below new price with no extras). And it has the air suspension and rear wheel steering that some more recent deliveries have apparently been missing.

Though back to Tesla - I noticed yesterday that the stock new model Y’s no longer have £3k off

Wasn’t what I rather clumsily asked though was it. Has there been an auto delete of the function? It’s a fairly basic function on most cars now let alone one that’s £38k new. Was it a safety thing?

How you finding the 50? That is a lovely machine and I keep watching the used prices.

Similarly MY’s are great news if you haggle using WBAC. Put any MY LR or MYP reg from autotrader into WBAC and see the devastation Elon has created. 1000 mile MYP on 23 plate books at £42k. Same as LR.

I think if you use the email carpet bomb approach, offer some hard cash to these private sales, you’d get one under £40k as no dealer will touch them.
