Hi all

A pal of mine has asked a question, he has a Model X and a punctured rear tyre. It has good tread as does the other side and the tyre fitter says both will need replacing.

I've heard of this on ICE AWD cars due to the differentials etc but is the case with a Model X?

What does the car manual say about this?

Cheers. Says to replace if more than 1.5mm between old and new so I've suggested this to my pal.

Does it say to replace them as a pair? Genuine interest as don’t know much about electric cars. If the manual does not mention it I would have thought you can just replace the damaged tyre.

It does if there is more than 1.5mm difference. I was wondering this as I know some AWD vehicles have to have them replaced as a pair.

If the remaining tyre is fairly new, then I'd keep it if I can get the same make, otherwise replace the pair

But I'd do that with any car, simple rule is to never mix tyres on an axle

The other tyre is 2 years old. Not too sure on mileage.
