Like what? It has a yoke. It goes at light speed. It’s relatively under the radar. It has good range. It’s practical.

What I meant is you can't think of a single other car you'd want to own? Not one?

Yoke - meh, gimmick. You have to pay extra on their store for a round wheel rofl

Light speed - nope, quick yes. Lots of other cars are also quick.

Long range, not if you use the speed. Many, many other EV's also have long range.

LHD only - bit of a burden in the UK. I know, trust me.

Overall I'd buy a P100D and keep the tens of thousands in savings, have a round steering wheel and long range. Scrub that I'd be in the Porsche all day if I had that money to spunk. Sadly I'm poor by PH standards so neither for me.

I don’t want a Porsche, too big, not enough range, not big enough inside, too flashy.

Yoke is unique. I’m into it.

Not buying one now, they canceled my order and lhd is crap for a daily.

Well, yeah but that would be a used P100D. I was gonna buy as a company car, I don’t actually want a secondhand car.

I want something from Tesla that’s a bit more premium than the 3/Y just because I can.

As a Plaid? There's 3 production cars faster 0-60*, and I'm not entirely sure you can order any of them.

  • Accepting the much publicised roll-out methodology, but the next fastest car is 0.3 seconds slower.

There's literally no meaningful way you could or would be punching 0-60 times repeatedly on a journey or cruising 100+ mph and then be wondering why you don't have 300 miles range.

Yup, didn’t say any were as quick and you’ve proven my point nicely that long range and hyper speeds don’t go together.

All a bit pointless anyway since they cancelled all the U.K. orders,

I was at the Tesla dealer on Sunday handing back a M3 after a test drive and the sales guy was telling me that the new model S cars were arriving in Southampton. He did say that they came with a Tesla branded grabber to save you leaning over to pick up parking tickets / tolls etc.......I thought he was pulling my leg but he was deadly serious. rotate

Overtaking would still be a pain. Although if they keep discounting….

Are they not making any right hand drive cars at all or just not sending any to the UK?

If it's no RHD at all then it seems mental to shackle sales in what must be reasonable sized markets. When I was in Hongkong there were loads of Teslas. Australia, South Africa, NZ I suspect have their fair share too.......It's not like the new model is radically different either.

They only make about 20k MS and MX combined per quarter (out of nearly 500k), and only sold 10k in Q1 this year. If they only sold 10k in all LHD markets including US, Canada, Europe (exc us) then hpw many RHD cars are they going to sell? 1k when they're after 500k+ a quarter total production?

its become noise that they should just kill off. But to answer your question, they don't make any RHD MS or MX any more, it stopped in 2020 with the pre 2021 facelift model

LHD only production - nowhere gets RHD. frown

Also, the Tesla grabber thing… that can’t be real? They’re trolling us if so. rofl

Pretty sure the X will be gone as soon as the truck goes into production. By all accounts Tesla still cannot get X assembly right, US owners taking delivery now are still reporting the same issues as what I had back in 2017.

Elon has long said the X was a mistake, I suspect they cannot wait to stop building them, not sure what they would do with S though, one production run per quarter will probably be enough to meet demand, but its an awful lot of resource to waste for such a small production run.

When ever we buy our next car, it'll probably be a BMW. The iX for reasons draws me.....I must like odd ball cars smile.

I think the S will go too. There’s only so long you can hold on, I think there’s a recognised business term for the first product that really made the company being kept on too long.

Has anyone else been invited to the test drive event at Hatfield House next week?

They’re giving people 1 hour slots to try an S or an X.

Have asked what they might be doing regarding insurance of LHDs.

May go along just for curiosity.

3 years free but non-transferrable supercharging if you buy a LHD S or X by the end of June.

Only reason I can see to buy one LHD in the UK is if you do a ton of miles in Europe every week, spank the free supercharging for 3 years and then sell it to someone in Europe when the 3 years is up.

I’m going next weekend. I’ve requested a Model S Plaid as that’s what I have (had!) on order. No intention of buying one as I think you’d have to be crazy, but they’ve had my money for two years so the least they can do is give me a go for an hour. biggrin

I know it’ll make me more annoyed at what I’m missing out on, but whatever.
