Just ordered Mrs Audi (yes I need to change my username lol) a rear wheel drive new shape model 3.

Having had a Model S for the past 6 years I’ve been more than happy to recommend one for her and the new shape really looks neat.

Plus the price was now only £39k (plus delivery etc) which seems really good value and IIRC is less than the old model?. The long range was another £10k and I can only see 5 differences (about 50 real miles more, AWD, better speakers, faster supercharging and faster 0-60) and I don’t think Mrs A is going to use these to warrant £10k more. Plus the long range doesn’t have the LFP batteries which I’m surprised at but that was another reason for not choosing that model.

Standard (free) pearl paint, although we did upgrade the wheels as I personally can’t stand the ‘hub caps’ or the wheels behind them, an extra £1.5k.

Delivery Jan - Feb so looking forward to seeing that in the flesh.

Will provide a review when had it for a few weeks.

Interesting that they're not even launching them in the US yet, I read it's due to the fact that they get a grant from the US government for having batteries produced in the US, and the 2024 M3 has batteries produced in China.

Nice, I've had my pre-facelift long range RWD for less than a week and I'm loving it. The immediate torque is incredible and it's the least powerful version! It'll be interesting to see how she gets on with the lack of stalks and indicators on the wheel.

Yeah definitely going to take some getting used to, although I hear there's going to be aftermarket stalks available lol

Has this come now?

I’ve ordered a standard range one as a company car, no idea on lead times though as I’m not sure how long the process takes to sort finance etc. Tesla website was quoting Feb-Mar for delivery when I got confirmation the lease company had received the next step.

Hope you’re getting on okay if you’ve got it!

It was due 31.1.24 but I cancelled the order due to a change of circumstances, they've refunded me the £200 which I was really surprised at.

I think I'll reorder one in the summer.

I've just cancelled my order for a Highland Long Range. Tesla offered me £18,200 for my one-owner, 29,500-mile, 2021 plate Long Range, while We Buy Any Car is offering £23,000. When I asked Tesla why their bid was so low, they simply suggested I try We Buy Any Car. It's frustrating because it seems like they don't want my car as a trade-in, but rather want me to experience the depreciation cycle with them again. I'm planning to check out the BYD Seal AWD model on Tuesday instead.

Wow. The cheapest one on their certified pre owned site is something like £33k for that year M3 LR!

That's a hell of a mark up!

Tesla simply don’t want to deal with used cars. They’re not a car dealer in the traditional sense.

And their used cars sure as st aren’t “certified”. Their new ones barely are.

Well Tbf to Tesla it has been by far the easiest car I have ever had to live with. For me to keep a car for three years is amazing and I am totally use to the app. It’s going to be like changing from having an iPhone to an old android using anything else but fundamentally you are right. I am not going to buy another one on the basis of their offer. I found it ridiculous that they are saying in a text to me “ have you tried wbac “ and yet they think I’ll buy another one of them.
Anyway BMW have some good deals on i5 in stock vehicles with 4.9% finance deals. The figures for an i5 40 with technology pack are only £120 more than leasing a LR model 3

We already have a Y in the household. Also there is a new one imminent which would mean another hit. Im only ever going to lease ev’s now as there are some incredible deals on BMW’s

My wife has a BMW EV. You're going to hate the 'MyBMW' app. It's utter crap.

Well I found the i5 to be a proper luxury barge after the Tesla but really hard to pinpoint its position on the road. Ride and comfort excellent but I really missed the way the Tesla can dart in and out of city streets and just shoot off down the road. Tbf the i5 was the rwd 40 model but it felt like my previous Audi a8 in size and weight. Totally, totally different cars but if you look at the lease deals bmw are doing you can get into a 40 for the same as a long range highland.

I’ve been offered a M60 ultimate pack with also a Technology pack. 9 x monthly deposit based on 12000 miles for £829 + vat . The Tesla would be the same terms but £630+ vat a month. ( slight difference in deposit )

You seem to get so much more car in the bmw that it’s hard to justify going for a long range but I’m worried I will miss the ease of use of the Tesla. Haven’t driven a Seal yet but that’s similar to £600 a month and for an extra £200 I get a 600bhp 4x4 . Difficult


I bought my Tesla model 3 in 2021 outright and added the performance boost. It cost me £48300 in total. Webuyanycar have offered £23200. So it’s cost me £700 a month but that’s including the vat.

Good point
They did reduce the interest on the ‘old’ 3
Then reduced the price of the updated one, but ramped up the interest then!
I suspect the updated Y will be cheaper & better. But higher interest.

Well i ended up getting a lease on an i5 m60 ultimate. £828 with a free service thrown in. Having a dashcam fitted which is crap against Tesla’s sentry system.

The monthly difference from speccing a Long Range Tesla to a FULLY loaded I5 m60 was just £190 pm. Obviously the deposit is higher on the i5 being £7500 vs just under £6k.

Fundamentally though you can currently get in a nice spec i5 40 for less than a long range model 3. If you need a proper charging network then its a difficult one as the i5 is a totally different proposition. I hope ive made the right choice as im stuck with it for three years.
