The Mcmurtry Speirling fan car thing that literally sucks itself to the tarmac still needs 1.4sec 0-60 so I can't see the Roadster doing it.

Knowing Elon and Tesla it'll be something like:

0-60 1.0 Seconds*

(*127ft roll out.)

rofl downhill with a tailwind and some sort of track only cold thruster idiocy bolted on.

Optimum tyre condition, optimum surface conditions, battery heated and prep'd. I think it's definitely possible, but it won't be something owners will be replicating regularly, just like taking a Veyron to top speed was a big deal and rarely done.

But apparently no one cared about ICE cars setting performance records laugh

So all of that and drag radials. Perfect for the commute. Afterwards replace various broken things and recharge rofl

What's the fastest and quickest car in the world which doesn't have a special mode, doesn't burn through tyres and can be used without any geo fencing?

It's worse for you, almost no one cares about EV anything.

Probably that Challenger. And it’ll be interesting.

On E85 and tyres that would be suicide in the rain.

You failed to answer the question. What's the fastest/quickest car that just is without the added fuss?

No one cares about 0-60.... people want solid 400+mile range with lower battery degradation and better cold weather range.... over to you musk.
Speak for yourself. I'm perfectly happy with 200 mile range and couldn't care less about battery degradation, whatever that is. Gimme great handing and an epic 0-60 thanks, although as previously mentioned I'm pretty certain 1 second is total BS. A top fuel dragster is IIRC 0.8 seconds the tyres of which rule out going round corners. Or driving on the road. It's also got 10x the power.

Top Fuel dragster can drop under half a second.

I think Musk must have something up his sleeve, if the Plaid which is three years old can do just over two seconds I wouldn’t bet against a smaller, lighter and more recently developed car going under that, possibly on sticky tyres

Maybe not under a second but if the Demon can do 1.66 with RWD and 900 bhp, I would wager that a four wheel drive EV with more power can go as fast or faster. Key thing is tyres and surface, Plaid does its 2 and a bit second run on road tyres.

There are three years of development and learning to call on, software that will have been tweaked and god knows how much more power.

Well, since Musk claimed that the Plaid can do 0-60 in under 2 seconds when it can’t, I’m not going to believe him when he says that the Roadster can do 0-60 in under a second.

This is the same bloke who said they were going to 10NM engineering tolerances, including for panel gaps. I don't think he's actually seen a Tesla. laugh

The cult around this guy is a bit like the Trump personality cult. The more I read, the more I am convinced the businesses he buys with his inherited wealth remain successful in spite of him rather than because of him.

Or perhaps not. My understanding is it'll employ some form of rocket propulsion, meaning it won't be reliant on wheel traction alone to deploy it.

The amount of propulsive force needed to move a 2 ton car quickly is immense - stand behind the propellors at full throttle of a similarly weighted plane and now realise that that amount of thrust accelerates the plane at a glacial rate by comparison.

How will propulsive 'rockets', even if just compressed air pass any kind of safety legislation? What if a 6yr old kid was standing behind it?
