Lexus servicing costs !!

Yeah I have now actually, and get this ... I'm booked into a Lexus dealer, that's also part of Arnold Clark .. they're doing the service for £69, catch is that I get an Arnold Clark stamp instead of a Lexus stamp in the book ..
Done deal if you ask me ..
But still, how many people are happy to pay £346.80 for oil and filters .. and you just know they'd be straight on the phone saying how my brake pads/disks etc were as much as 40% worn and they'd of course suggest replacing them

Lexus gave me free pads and discs because they said they should last longer along with less than half price tires , mind you I did spend close to 100k in there Done deal if you ask me ..

Buy a premium car, expect premium prices, even with the garnish of atttracive receptionists, "Free" coffee and the odd "Lifestyle" magazine I cant quite get to the thinking where £350 odd is reasonable for changing some oil and putting a new filter on, plus you have to lurk round whilst they do it, cant be arsed so I do my own.
I stick some music on, make a brew and get on with it, might as well as the time is wasted sat in a dealers, plus you have to drive to the dealers and either lurk or find something to do, so I just do the change myself, its so easy.
I think for a lot of people its too tricky, a bit beneath them and of course you dont get what you were actually paying for, a stamp in a little book, thing is yours is nearly 5 years old, might as well diy it now as it wont be worth the additional when you come to sell it anyway, just keep receipts and mark the book yourself.

Yeah, oil, service and of course we'll have a look around while we're under there .. and no doubt tell you how worn your pads are etc, but all that's being changed is the oil and filters .. J4CKO said:

Only on here people think it's ok to service your own car yet when there's a What Car thread everyone is looking for FSHTbh I don't want my car to have cheapest oil available at eurocarparts

Yep. Less than £50 and won't even need to jack it up. Only servicing job I would potentially use a stealer for is autobox oil & filter. Some cars need diagnostics to be sure the atf is at the exact temp for the level to be correct etc. Ballsing it up could effectively write off the car.
Rest I do myself- if you want a job done properly. The obsession with dealer stamps on cheap barges is bizarre.

Thats the big one - the smaller service is just over half that. For a full service, and dont forget the pick up, drop off, full valet inside and out and pre-emptive stuff, its not a bad price.
You pays your money and you takes your choice I suppose. But ran my RX for nearly 4 years and 40k miles. NEVER did I spend more than I was quoted on the phone. Most times it was less and they never tried to fleece me with "your brakes need doing" or similar. Might work with other dealerships, but not the one I used.
