If you got a bit of electric saved up from braking or coasting then it has around 450brake

Edit: SE-L is the only trim I would buy even if it's a bit more expensive
No it doesn't - 345PS (338 bhp) combined power output

Its simply a matter of adding motor output to engine output

Petrol engine is 286 hp, the motor is rated at 197 hp, combined power is 338 hp - thats according to the internal Lexus documentation I have in front of me

Its got something to do with how you rate an electric motor output in terms of hp - not just a Lexus thing

The GS450h feels quick not because of the total output but mainly as result of the electric motor producing max torque instantaneously

Petrol engine and electric motor aren't making peak power at the same time.
But it should have more power across the rev range than a car with the same peak power just from one source.

I have one. It's a barge, but by god, when it picks up its skirts, it can really move, much to the surprise of various people (including me, initially). As said above, hi-torque electric motor plus 3.5 litres plus autobox = rapid acceleration from any speed to any other speed you like.

Average 33-34 mpg (best 38 to 40-ish on long journeys if just wafting).

I didn't buy it for economy - I bought it because it's just a brilliant car for driving about daily. It replaced a diesel which was more economical but a bleeding drudge.

couple of qu's (looking to replace a honda accord)

Do the rear seats fold flat?

And do they all have that "wood"?? If so, is it replaceable??!

0-60 5.8sec or so.

Plenty fast for a 2 ton barge.

Seats don't fold (the hybrid battery is behind them so you couldn't put anything through anyway). Boot space is probaly the one downside.

I think they all have the wood effect. Mine is almost black though, so it looks ok.

5.5 quoted, I think. And no racing gearchanges, brutal clutch dropping required - put box in auto, sport button on, plant it.

Ahem... so I hear...

I've driven one on an extended European trip, lovely lovely things to drive. Agreed about the "far more rapid" than you might expect bit for something so big, very exceptable economy figures too.

Often owned by exceedingly wealthy types (much more so than the 7 series & S Class) who want something discreet to waft about in, very well kept ones are therefore easy enough to find.

2nd time round maybe not but you'll have the benefit of the previous owner & the kudos that went with it.

thanks - bit of a deal breaker. From the outside it looks as though the boot would be cavernous!

Would the LS600h not be more of a 7/S competitor, the GS is in the same segment as the 5/E is it not?

What is comfort access?
Keyless entry - walk up with key in pocket, courtesy lights under door mirrors activate, and door unlocks when you touch the sensor on the door handle.
