Lexus IS 300h - Just bought one!

A real shame from my point of view that they never bothered with an estate version of the more recent IS. (But then I have trouble trying to work out why a saloon car is a sensible purchase for very many people at all.)
The Japanese really like their Saloons. As do the Americans. They're the biggest market for cars like these. I think I might try and get my dad into a GS450H when the time comes for him to be rid of his X5. After 30 years of BMW he doesn't want another one, and Lexus seems like something that will be dependable. Not to mention they score well in just about every regard. The lack of estate is the biggest issue for him, and many others though.
I think the CVT would work well with this, due to the hybrid powertrain. What do the BIK figures look like?

Had these as courtesy cars a few times and they are brilliant cruisers. If I had to go long distances I'd like nothing better than a Lexus. You also got the feeling that somewhere under all the extra weight was a really, really good sports saloon waiting to be discovered. Any news on an IS-F version yet?

Got it. Having just spend around 30 minutes going around in what seemed like infinite loops trying to find DAB stations and then add them to the presets I think I have a fun evening ahead with the (fking massive) manuals.
I know that feeling, still going through mine a week after picking mine up. Still can't work out the DAB but suspect it's cos I'm in an area that is poor for reception.bhstewie said:

Select the station then press and hold the joystick if memory servesYes, the dab presets and sat Nav are poor, just way to complex. I've had bmw and even Vauxhall systems are much easier to use.
Mine is due to be returned in June on contract hire and I was hoping to keep it but Lexus not willing to sell. I've seen the same executive model on 15 plate up for £20k, not gong to pay that. Who is buying these at that figure?
Are Lexus residuals really that strong, I'm looking at the NX, had new prices at 27k (£3k discount) for the base model and used cheapest on auto trader in 26k, surely used stock can't be selling at they price.

Got there with the DAB in the end but fk me I work in IT and I struggled god knows how someone a little less technical would cope.
Impressions so far are really good. It's quiet as in really quiet which may be stating the bleeding obvious or may simply be me coming to it from a diesel Golf but it's simply spooky particularly at junctions or any time it's in full EV so all you've got is road noise.
MPG based on zeroing the trip and doing 85 miles so far of A road and town driving is coming in at 56mpg if the onboard computer is accurate, which is about what I'd get with my Golf if I was very lucky so if I can get that as a consistent MPG I'll be happy.
One thing I will mention is the paint. I don't know if I'm imagining it but it just seems different league to the VW and most other cars I've seen. In the sun it has a real pop about it but it's almost as if it's plastic (I know paint is so perhaps it's an odd way to try to explain it) and no obvious orange peel, it's very difficult to explain.

NX residuals are insane. According to my local dealer they sell quickly even at those strong prices.I've seen a few hang around, but I can't see the point of buying used when the savings are so small.
Having read some of the forums I'm getting a little put off as the driving characteristics are quite different to the Is300h I currently have, ie some suggest that it can struggle up hills, a problem I've never had with the IS. Also, same engine and gearbox but real mpg about 36/38, Is a get high 40's and sometime 50 if careful. I assume it’s down to the 4 wheel drive, plus no parking sensors standard on base and Se model, £800 option. It's been a long time since I've had a car without parking sensors as standard, due to it's shape and size you really do need them (well i do!).

I rented an ES300h earlier this year, which has essentially the same powertrain in a transverse FWD setup. It was just perfect for doing big distances on heavily-policed New Zealand roads, and I started to get quite addicted to optimising the engine/battery flows on the main screen.
The smaller and sharper IS chassis might just be the Perfect Car For The Real World {TM) (Not a 320d again)

+1. My wife and I both like the IS, but the lack of estate makes it infeasible for us. Shame, I really want one!The rise of the SUV/cannabilisation of sales of NX means it'll never happen, of course.
After having a BMW E92 for nearly seven years, I traded up to an IS300 Executive. Totally different experience than the Beemer, but I am loving it. So much quieter and smoother and relaxing to drive. Averaging 50mpg currently. Last service (main) was £500 @ Lexus. So far proving considerably cheaper (and more reliable) to run than previously.

Similar to me, but I moved from a bmw f30 se. The quality of the finish is miles better on the Lexus, I too have the executive version which is nice. The worst thing on the bmw was the super slim hard steering wheel, it felt way inferior to anything I've experienced in 30 years of driving, so bad I replaced it with an m sport one from a 1 series, a mission but worth it. The 320d is so rough it's a step back from the earlier models. I do find the is300h quite but find that over about 20mph the tyre noise takes over and you don't really appriciate the hybrid setup. I love mine but just not sure it's worth 20k to buy . What sort f deals are folks getting on used ?
55mpg from an auto 2.5l v6 ...........
Trully is amazing imo
I had a rx400h a few years back, really nice and it surprised a few hothatches. Iirc i used to get 35mpg in london and 35mpg on the motorway
If they start selling an semi - autopilot version in any of their range ill be buying one
