Hi, sorry about that, it's off once in a blue moon, normally when it starts misbehaving, which it did yesterday. I seem to remember you leaving me your number when you pm'd me, if you did I'll give you a buzz if you think a sale is getting imminent. Or try me again whenever it suits you?

Cheers, Andy.

Hi Rob, I've been a bit remiss about this, I'm trying to move into another house by Thursday, which has kind of focussed my mind. If I can reach you in the near future, I will. If it doesn't happen for me, best of luck with the sale.

Cheers, Andy.

Ok, let's assume that.

Op, is it auto or manual. What year is it? Is there a click when you turn the key? If you turn on other things like the heaters, lights, heated screen etc, do the ignition lights still stay bright?

It sounds like an ignition switch problem, but that doesn't explain why the remote wouldn't open it.

What's the deal with DAB on these? Was it introduced after a certain year or not at all?

Buy one registered before 23rd March 2006 to avoid paying over £500 a year tax is my advice.

Quick qstn to any current / previous owners, my dad's just got a IS250 - 2005 - 160K miles.

Decent car in great condition, however, like a trooper the little bugger has recently fired up the trio of warning lights, VSC, Check engine, ABS...

So, we'll get the codes read / cleared and see how it goes.

Anyway, having done a bit of googling it seems sometimes its down to the fuel cap seal / rubber perishing or not being clicked in tight enough...

Has anyone experienced this, and if we were to get a new fuel cap from Lexus, is it just the same poor design that will fail again and better to get something aftermarket...

to be fair, that's after 160k miles so id argue the OE appears to do well?

So I have decided to get rid of my Mini, it needs a new steering rack which is almost the same amount of money including labour as what the car is worth.I have found one which I really like, I am planning to go and see it next week.

Did you buy one in the end? My daily is a R53 mini cooper S and i'm a bit fed up with the constant maintenance, the poor mpg and not so comfy seats. It's great to drive when in the mood, but for fun I've got my S2000.

I've read up on the IS250 and looks like a great car. Something different from the norm and hopefully very reliable. Even the mpg seems to be at least as good as the current Mini tongue out And the smooth v6 with an automatic box looks really appealing! Are these cars as reliable as they say? Even when buying a (properly maintained) 2007 model with ca 100k miles?

Hi Chaps,

After selling our two german bad boys (Vw Beetle and Merc AMG), just recently got this bad boy (IS 250 Advance, 2012). Approved used from the Lexus dealer, 33000 miles on the clock + 1 year warranty.

What a great machine! I had done a few thousand miles already now, did a few road-trips in U.K. and London - Cornwall recently. This is my first Auto - Car, so it's fantastic and the V6 engine is super-smooth. Unfortunately, it will be mostly used by my wife for daily duties while I'm looking for an air-cooled toy laugh At least, I've managed to persuade her, not to buy a bloody evoque!

From my own research, they seem to be pretty reliable? Feel free to send me some tips please if there is any!

Congrats, great car. No real issues to worry about. It may spit some coolant out from the water pump pressure relief valve at some point, but you can probably double the mileage before that becomes an issue. Worth thinking about changing the pump when you have the cqmbelt done as it's the cheapest time to do it. They really don't go wrong if looked after.
