Ha, this is exactly what i've been thinking about for the last few months! I know the GR is the car i want, but i keep seeing M2 comps so cheap, and i could have one NOW! But i'm a rally fan and B-road blaster at heart, so patience must be exercised frown

I think it's all compounded with lack of information for so long! My order went in 9:10 on preorder opening day, and I got offered a great price on my Boxster a week ago so thats gone too, so i have to hoon the family wagon until Nov at the earliest!
Funny enough that's what I did, Sold my Fiesta PE, with 285 miles on the clock to make way for the Yaris, and also looked hard at a M2 competition before the Fiesta just after I sold my Mk3 focus rs, but I couldn't justify spending that sort of money.

Interesting that in this video, Morizo (Toyota CEO) says that the car is designed so that customers can "make those final touches in their own way".

Not that it's really needed, but how easy do we think it'll be to get this to 300 bhp (maybe a remap and exhaust)?
PPF delete and a remap will easily see 300 I think.

More importantly will doing mods like remap etc invalidate the warranty. I’d rather have 250bhp to beat the hell out of without worry for a few years than 300 with the prospect of a big bill hanging over me.

PPF delete absolutely will, and you're boned if you have an accident or get spot checked, as technically your car isn't road-legal without it. No fun allowed. frown

I don’t see why they wouldn’t, doesn’t stop many people modding their new cars.

I can’t say I’d do it immediately, I’d want to see some time pass with cars modded before I jumped in.

I think we need to remember this is a modern version of a 90s Japanese turbo hatch. Pretty much every similar car happily ran “stage 1” giving +10% and the manufacturers expected it.

I don’t see Toyota deviating from that formula with the G16E-GTS.

Whether dealers choose to turn a blind eye to mods is another discussion.

Unless you kill someone I don’t see an assessor paying that close attention to the car.

As for spot checks, fill me in. News to me. Can’t help but be reminded of TV detector vans.

It's here! My dealer sent me the final UK spec brochure this morning. Link to captures here: https://imgur.com/a/fTEnzMf

It's unfortunate that it does seem we don't have any way of getting the convenience pack goodies. frown

Thanks for sharing!

Monumentally stupid decision not to offer the convenience pack options (would have particularly liked the head-up-display, JBL system and blind-spot monitor).

Still, it has a decent size screen with Android Auto / Apple Carplay, plus a reversing camera as standard.

Considering the HuD is a standard item for the little shopping-cart version of the 2020 Yaris it seems very odd it's not on the GR. I'm wondering if retrofitting with Toyota parts will be doable without too much fuss.

I've only skimmed through the 70-odd pages; have the difference between the two suspension options been made clear? I"m old, so can no longer be arsed with hard suspension on the crappy roads that we have to drive on in the UK..

I suspect many people will lower the GFV to take maximum advantage of the 0% on offer.

You can do that? Never had PCP, I take it that is either a gamble on it being worth more than the standard GFV or planning to keep it anyway? I must admit looking at the calculator I did think going for a minimal deposit was the way to make the most of the 0%

This isnt true. Maximum deposit is £11700 so on a 24 month term this brings your monthly down to £151 with £18K GFV but as someone else has said I'd be aiming to get that GFV as low as possible.

Yes minimal deposit, and maximum mileage which lowers the GFV, so you get to borrow the most at 0%.
Quite common for ‘cash conversions’

Please excuse my ignorance but how does this work?

As an example I've got this on the calculator saying I'd do 30K miles a year (I won't):

Representative Example
1st Monthly Payment £321.12
Next 40 Monthly Payments £321.12
Customer Deposit £11,000.00
Cash Price £33,495.00
Amount of Credit £22,495.00
Guaranteed Future Value/Optional Final Payment £10,417.50

So does this mean after 40 months I have to give them the GFV amount to keep the car?

Doh.

If you want to take maximum advantage of the 0% you'd keep the GFV as high as possible. Means you borrow more for longer for free.
