The figures seem too low to be related to stiffness of the bodyshell unless it's somehow measured differently from how I'm thinking. A 2007 Z4 Couple has a torsional stiffness rating of 32,000NM/degree. I'd expect these to be much higher than that
23/5 odd thousand is a good figure for a car of that weight - see http://youwheel.com/home/2016/06/20/car-body-torsi... (The really significant figure is nm/degree/kg - a heavier car needs more stiffness for the same effect). The Z4 coupe (and the Cayman even more so for that matter) are stiffer than they need to allow the convertible versions to be acceptably stiff.) Convertibles are usually have half (or less) stiffness of their coupe brethren. A 991 Cab is only 11700nm/degree (and feels it)!
As already said there's no way it's bodyshell stiffness, it's an order of magnitude lower than it should be.

I note the NA MX5 at barely over 5000, which explains a lot about its handling. Impressive for its time of course! W222 S-class is also impressive for a large saloon at over 40k.

Sorry my apology - I was reading it as 23000 (thousand) Nm per degree, which is where I would expect it to be. As you say it's an order of magnitude adrift. But if the figure isn't torsional stiffness what is it?

Easy to mis-read it, I did the same at first, second and third reading tbh. No idea what it is, can't get the google image translator to help. I wonder if it's something odd like subframe or wishbone stiffness? That or it's a misprint and it should be x10, as you say mid-20 thousands would be perfectly decent for a small hatchback that keeps sensible weight.

I'd suggest the figures stated in Nm/deg are arb figures...

Definitely not bodyshell stiffness, the engineers would hang themselves if it was that floppy! Does it have a twist-beam rear suspension unit? Could be the stiffness of that.

OK, here's how I read it:

    RZ HP RZ
Tyres Michelin PS4S Dunlop Sport Maxx
Wheels BBS Enkei
LSD Yes No
Front suspension:
Spring rate 36N/mm 34N/mm
ARB diam 24.2mm 23.2mm
Damper rates 1610N/890N 1550N/880N
(compression/rebound)
Rear suspension:
Spring rate 36N/mm 36N/mm
Rear ARB diam 21mm 21mm
Damper rates 1440N/890N 1130/870
(compression/rebound)
Upright stiffness? 2540Nm/degree 2360Nm/degree
Weight balance? 64%F 61%F
ESP program

ETA: The stupid post system has stripped my formatting, that was a nice neat table before frown

Barely 5% difference in most metrics (bar rear damper compression). Not really the 'concrete' circuit bias suspension we were led to believe.

I can't see that - only one figure. Surely there would be a figure for the front and one from the rear. In any case that figure sounds too big for ar bar. Curiouser and curiouser unless it is just a misprint.

Considering some say their order is already on the ship, why are there no reviews of GR Yaris yet?!?!

I'm thinking absolutely - in the most recent DriveNation podcast Andrew Frankel shuts up very quickly at the start when they refer to him driving a hot hatch and he said he is absolutely not allowed to talk bout it. Reckon it's that one.

Just got news from my friend at RRG Macclesfield that the demo GR4 that they were expecting to arrive last Friday has been delayed until November. So looks the embargo is indeed the case. frown
Off topic. Did you used to own a Mk1 MR2 and post on IMOC?

Also an interesting video about a bit of off-road fun. The curious thing is that the car is clearly not stock since it has a working anti-lag system and judging from the standing start it could even have a sequential gearbox. It sounds pretty good in general and that turbo flutter at 1:46 love

Probably a decent example of what could be if laws are not a concern.

So Toyota don't want people having a go in the demos before expecting to take delivery of their cars?

That doesn't fill me with confidence.

What is your concern? Is your deposit not refundable?

The "You can cancel your order after you have had a demo" promise seems pretty hollow frown.

Don’t be daft.

I’ll be testing the demonstrator before the decision to take the car I’ve been ordered.

Wait until they tell you your car is ready for delivery and the demo is busy until Feb 2021 - Because Covid wink.
