Don't be daft, just giving examples of turbocharged, 4wd cars available for 50k that would make this a non starter.
There is no way a yaris based car will be the same price as a Mk8 Golf R, TTRS or S3 Audi.
So if they are not the same buyer, as you are suggesting, then they wouldn't consider the VW product, which is what I was suggesting, so those alternatives at 50k are meaningless....

The GR buyer can only assess if the price (when revealed) is worth it to own one ?

You are talking in riddles like Yoda, its still not clear what you are saying?

All I originally stated was that this isn't a 50k car in terms of performance or quality it wont stand up at that level, for sub 40k you can get a Golf R or for 50k you'd pick up a TTRS or S3. The Yaris wont directly compete with any of those and IMHO will be sub 35k.

And yet we have £50k Fiat 500’s out there and £70k Renault megane’s for some enjoyment is more than price, people are happy to take enjoyment over value.

The problem the Yaris faces is not one of desirability but one of an affordable price to sell the required amount to meet homologation within a year.

I'd be incredibly surprised if Renault sold a single 70k Megane.

Its not a desirable enough product for a broad enough customer base to warrant a 50k price, so it wouldn't sell. Simple as.

Not if they sell the same body with a non-turbo engine and a CVT gearbox.

They only sold 1 as there was only 1 available in the UK. But I kind of agree that the entry level Yaris GR needs to be £29,995 but it depends how many they hope to sell. I don't think it will be that low BTW. I am going for £33k to £37k UK prices, depending on version.

Which they won't unfortunately.

I went in today and put a deposit on one.

Not much info available, buy they're estimating 30k

Probably September.

I'll update with more info as I get it.

I'm very excited about this but don't have the confidence to place a deposit until I've driven one. I was very excited about the Focus RS too but that was somewhat disappointing.

There is Zero inside information at the moment, other than what's on the Toyota UK website. I'd guess at £33-38K
We have taken one deposit already, which will ensure he is first in (our) line when the order book does open.

Thanks for that, they said I was their second.

Their guess is a little lower than yours, I don't think I'd pay much above 30k, but we'll see how it looks/goes.

Sorry for any non clarity.
I wish I was as clever as Yoda.
I'm probably as attractive.

You are citing vw cars as alternatives.
I am saying VW buyers would not be seen dead in a Yaris. The cars you have mentioned would never be on a TT buyers spectrum.
It's irrelevant that a TT RS is the same potential price of the GR as TT boy ain't buying a Toyota.

Allayed confusions hope to have I........
