What is the situation with cancelled orders being "sold on", surely that is not allowed??
I was late in the game to get my order in, but would expect a cancelled order to allow me to move up the ladder, not be sold on to someone else, who was even later in the game than me!
Just feeling a bit miffed as was told that it would not happen!
Quite hard to give a short answer and not ramble on too much, and keep it all relevant! I was late in the game to get my order in, but would expect a cancelled order to allow me to move up the ladder, not be sold on to someone else, who was even later in the game than me!

I can only speak from my experience, some dealers/franchises may have a different process.
If someone cancels, which does happen, we try where possible to bring some forward, I’ve already done this twice for PH member orders.
....but it’s not always as simple as you’d think.
Lets say it’s Black, and it’s due in mid March, and I’ve got 10 other customers in the queue wanting a Black one.
Some of them are happy to wait, and would prefer to, they may already having a car going back at the end of a PCP so being early doesn’t help them. So they are out.
Some want it sooner, but I can’t offer a test drive until April, and the customer won’t commit until he’s driven one, so they’re out.
The car will arrive in March, and now the dealer has to pay Toyota the £30K+ for the car within 14 days, and none of the queue can fully commit. What do you do?
Sell it to someone who calls up, who will buy it there and then?
Is that fair? Yes and No!
If I do find someone in the queue who can commit, I’ll then need to call everyone again to see if they want to come forward a slot, and it’s all a bit of a ball ache from a Toyota order system perspective, it shouldn’t be, but it is.
So I can see why dealers will sell the cancelled ordered slot to a fresh customer, It can just be much easier for them.

Also not bothered when, i bought my GP1 3 days before the reg changed lol!! I am taking 0% finance option so all good to go...
So fingers crossed someone cancels, not an ideal systme but in fairness to Toyota i bet they have not had the same demand for any other car they produced recently!
Does anyone know how those wheel covers used in shipping are removed/installed? There are clamp looking things on the outer edges and a great big cross-shaped thing in the centre which looks like it'd take a screwdriver. Are the wheel centre caps under that cover or do they need to be put in the centre bore after those covers have been removed?

My understanding from some posts online previously is centre caps are fitted at the dealership so makes sense they attach the covers to the centre of the wheel. Are you wanting to run a set for aero……

The UK cars do not have those, just a clear thin plastic cover, the centre caps are put in as part of the PDI at the dealership.ecsrobin said:

I picked my car up from the dealership (Sidcup) with the covers still on and drove it straight to the detailers in Croydon, they had all blown off by the time I got there. Are you wanting to run a set for aero……

I had a look at them today, much more impressive in the flesh than the photos. I’m considering going again tomorrow to put a deposit down, with the option of one I could be driving away this weekend. My Dad’s also off to the local GR purveyor.
How much was the one that you could drive away this weekend and what spec?Gassing Station | Toyota | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
