I got my ODB2 dongle (the Carista one actually) and the Carista app today and disabled both of the sound settings - the noise giveth and the noise taketh-away. Having the sound enhancement makes the car a pleasant drive and if you give it a boot-full you still do hear intake and exhaust noise and that little wastegate fluttering away. So I'm going to keep it turned off for a while. The noise cancelling now has that booming (too low frequency to call it a drone I think) which occurs between 1500 and 2000rpm. I didn't notice any other change in vehicle noises. I'll also keep that off until I get sick of it.

I also changed the indicator nudge flash from three flashes to five, but I'll change it to seven to make it suit how I lane-change on the freeway. There's a few other config settings in there but they don't have the "magic window" function in there - which is where you can use the remote to lower and raise the windows.
It’s on the Beta.

Carbon fibre always seems silly to me when added on top of something else…adding a weight saving material on top of the original part.
I'm not sure it this trim sticks on top of the existing panels (which would be odd) or is replacement pieces and the standard trim is removed.

Its hard to tell from the info.

Cheers
Steve
It sticks on top and is fake carbon, it’s also missing the piece between drivers door and steering wheel……

If someone wants to update the list, I've had mine a while now. smile

When it arrived it was good, but not as brilliant as I remembered from the test drive. One little thing I discovered was the tyres were about 4psi high all round. I set them to the recommended pressures and the car drives how it should - like a terrier on attack mode.

The sheer point it, boot it, brake it, repeatability is absolutely brilliant. No brake fade, no heatsoak, overtakes fantastically due to the low gearing and revs strongly all the way to the top.

So for anyone saying they aren't great fun, check the tyre pressures are correct (when utterly cold) by averaging across a couple of known-good gauges, and then get thrashing it down a country lane. If you don't enjoy that, hand in your license and shut the door on the way out. laugh

This could be a cancellation for me. I need to drive one. Would hope with the amount of owbers here someone would give a 1st hand account of it.

It's a trait that would annoy me too much to live with.
The poster of the video states in the comments that the sound in the video is a bit off and its not like it sounds,

Did I read somewhere that the dealer can do this? If so i'll be requesting before I collect.

Yes dealer can do it or if you have the carista beta and OBD dongle.

Sabine was doing that in a Transit.
Yes but Sabine is a pro driver, this chap is not. GR is quick through the corners due to the traction and suspension setup.

That generation of GT3 does a lap of the 'ring in 7 mins 12.

Think about that.

Awesome my friend, I've been waiting for someone to give their opinion on one, can you tell me, how much for the set up? And are you willing to rent out overnight like the good old blockbuster? $7 a night for new release?

And even better, you live in Melbourne wink

He’s on about the carbon look trim for the dashboard.
Which I'm talking about too. As far as I know it's a wrap that is put on the dashboard.

This seems to be common thing. Mine also had tyre pressure far above the recommend values. You would think with all the pre-inspections that would be done correctly.

Sorry lost in translation. A wrap I would consider to be vinyl like the roof whereas this I would call a trim piece. It sticks on with 3m tape and is plastic with a carbon look.

Maybe true, but think about the ability of the GR..
Wonder if there’s an official lap time?

I think you have a fundamental lack of understanding of relative performance.

Picking mine up on Saturday, later than originally anticipated but lockdown and other issues pushed it back. I’ve a few queries which maybe answered elsewhere on PH but is there anything specific I should check / expect from the handover? I’ll give it the once over for damage etc but anything to check? I’ve never bought a new car before and certainly not one I’ve never even driven so any advice would be appreciated.
Lockdown handovers are pretty short and sweet, as I’m sure you can appreciate.

I’d perhaps check:
The bodywork and roof for any damage.
Media system is working.
2 x keys
Book pack has the manual and your service book.
Your insurance in place for when you drive away.
You’ve got a quote for a service plan.

Anything you’ve agreed as part of your purchase has been sorted, fuel? accessories? paint protection? GAP insurance?
Thanks for the response. I hadn't considered the media system check. I was posted a revised service book a few weeks back as there was a change in the service interval so I will check the two and make sure I have the right version.

Drive away is confirmed, I'll check the Service plan I'd not had any discussions around that yet.

You can move the mirror up, for many of us that has put the problem to bed. Worth getting some miles in before deciding to adjust it. I’d be checking tyre pressure as they seem to be in the 40psi region when shipped. 32 front 29 rear.
Thanks, I'd see a few people mention the tyre pressure a few months back but I'd missed that off my list! Was also going to just double check the locking wheel nut (probably overkill but just to be sure). I'm definitely going to try the mirror trick the moment I'm in the car. In the pre-production models it was blocking most of my view of the passenger front corner.

All go for Saturday...absolutely buzzing for this car. I've followed it since the Tokyo auto salon, it's even the reason I joined this forum! I'll update after the weekend.

He’s not. You’re trying to say that GR Yaris is quicker (or can keep up with) than a GT3 RS. We all know it isn’t. What that videos showed was that the driver of the Yaris was pushing on more than the Porsche driver. Wether that’s ability, or the other driver on a warmup lap no one will ever know.

Last October I overtook a Dutch mustang about 3 times in the corners in a Citroen C1 round the ring that must mean a C1 is quicker right?

I'm not sure why that's personal.

For reference, here's that 7m12.7 lap: https://youtu.be/2rMrJp7PQxo

I would estimate the GR Yaris will be about a minute slower.

Estimated difference between both if it's tipping down?
