Toyota GR Yaris - Official! (Vol 2)
Discussion
Done a few more miles and I'm very impressed by the ride quality. It's firm but controlled and compliant going over imperfections. Also booked the car in to get ceramic coating for the paintwork, wheels and windows.
I got this plus a Gazoo Racing cap which was nice. Wouldn't mind purchasing one of the GR softshell jackets which look decent.

The attention thing is funny, it goes completely unnoticed by 99% of road users, then there’ll be a group of lads standing around their car all stop and gawp at it.
Agreed, to most it's just a Yaris so not too much attention which is fine with me. But also nice to see it's recognised instantly by car enthusiasts and I've had a few thumbs up from other road users.MannyLon said:

Are cars supplied with these or are they dealer extras? This looks like then job for those that want to tidy up the roll without lowering too much/looking after market/risk grounding etc etc. The kit still gives its benefit when set to 5mm.

And before you know it you look like a Ford or Subaru owner I have a mate with a 360 who maybe lacks a little self awareness, and was wearing his ferrari cap on backwards ("helps for sunburn!") whilst in convoy with the roof down - he couldn't understand why he was getting abuse from lorry drivers ....
I also got the little toy and the bambo box for keys - no cap though.

... homologation special.
It might be a great car but it didn't homologate anything for top level motorsport, so it's not a homologation special. They build it, to allow them to race their WRC car, to win championships. Considering modern motorsport rules are just different now, that's as close to a homologation special as we'll get. Unless you've got 700k for a Ford GT....

The fact that the rally car couldn’t compete due to a pandemic makes no difference to the brief, the execution or indeed how the car drives.

There's no need to throw your GR toys out of the pram, I'm simply trying to state facts. And what on earth do you mean it couldn't compete due to the pandemic? Toyota are actively campaigning a Yaris (*not* GR) in the 2021 WRC, as they did in 2020. It wasn't formally homologated to run as a WRC car, ergo it's not a homologation special. It was designed and built for homologation purposes. The fact that the rally car couldn’t compete due to a pandemic makes no difference to the brief, the execution or indeed how the car drives.

And good forum etiquette surely dictates you shouldn't go onto a model specific board full of fan boys and be derisive about the model in question.

That’s because they cancelled the 2021 car due to covid and reverted back to the 2020 car for this year. Toyota also got the FIA to allow the 3 cylinder engine which as I understand it was homogolated for WRC2. Gassing Station | Toyota | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
