I got this plus a Gazoo Racing cap which was nice. Wouldn't mind purchasing one of the GR softshell jackets which look decent.
And before you know it you look like a Ford or Subaru owner I have a mate with a 360 who maybe lacks a little self awareness, and was wearing his ferrari cap on backwards ("helps for sunburn!") whilst in convoy with the roof down - he couldn't understand why he was getting abuse from lorry drivers ....
Why was he getting abuse?

Got a link to the jacket please? The lack of WRC Rally 1 use doesn't mean the vehicle isn't homologated to rally spec standards or won't go rallying. Toyota have been very clear on its intentions for the car. If it hadn't had Covid delay it's testing Ogier, Evans, Rovanpera & Katsuta would be flying around stages in it this year. It's seen action in the Japan rally and Australia. As mentioned the engine was homologated to Rally 2 (former R5) spec so I'd guess that even without the WRC car you'll see them running in Rally 2 events in time. I had guessed the Rally2 angle was to expand down the chain as Toyota don't have a presence at the lower levels of rally below WRC.

So after ordering online in Jan, I thought I'd try to arrange a test drive via the dealer I'm die be collecting from. I'd suggested this with the online team when I ordered and they were sure they'd be more than willing to help as they get a kickback from arranging the collection etc. Sent them an online enquiry re a test drive and they came back straight away, asking how I was looking to fund etc, told them straight I had already ordered online and they were my designated collection dealer - ignored. Several emails later, all ignored. Put another enquiry through the online team and they must have given the dealer a nudge as I did get a call back. Then ignored... Called twice and eventually spoke to them and they said they would try to facilitate when they were due a GR in for another customer. Fair enough. Then ignored...
I'm seriously going off the idea of a GR if this is the typical level of service. Piss poor really but possibly due to the online team presenting me with unrealistic expectations of their dealer network! Am I asking too much?!

Sounds as though the dealer you have chosen for delivery does not have a demonstrator.I'm seriously going off the idea of a GR if this is the typical level of service. You mention the dealer would look at this next time they take delivery of a customers car, I would hope there is zero chance of getting a test drive in a customers car, maybe a viewing but that will be it.
Contact a dealer with a demonstrator and arrange your test drive.

It sounds like you’ve nominated a non GR centre, they don’t run demos.I'm seriously going off the idea of a GR if this is the typical level of service. Piss poor really but possibly due to the online team presenting me with unrealistic expectations of their dealer network! Am I asking too much?!
Poor customer service though, where are you located? If it’s near the South coast you can drive ours
To be fair I don't think it would be a customer car, at least I'd be horrified if it was, but moreso for another of *their' prospexrive customers. I was obviously a bit niaive in presuming that all toyota dealers would have the same basic facilities re test drives in the full range. To be fair it's a small dealership but part of a large group. Thanks for the offer re a drive of yours but I'm a bit of a trek away from the south coast - Herts/Essex!
Guess I could go to a larger (GR) dealer but would feel a bit of an arse when they have no chance of getting a sale from me!

I’ve had my GR around a month, and it was an on-line sale, the on-line team were great at the start and promised to organise a test drive but it never happened. My pick up dealership doesn’t sound as bad as yours but they eventually got a demo at another dealership. (You can change pick up dealership easily).
In my opinion the on-line experience after the first two weeks was dreadful right up to taking delivery of the car, and I wish I’d ordered from a dealer, but and it’s a big but the car is fantastic, and I’m so glad I didn’t cancel.
I’ve told the on-line team and Toyota Customer Services about my experience and they reckon they’re trying to improve.

Online team were great with me but I never test drove. Berni was the guy dealing with my transaction. The dealer was very busy though so some delay. I suspect if the 0% finance applies to other vehicles plus 10 year warranty, a lot of people might want a reliable long term vehicle these uncertain times.
Really feel for those that ordered online that end up waiting longer in Derby to be PDi'ed than the time it took to build and ship from Japan.
Not acceptable really and Toyota should be been transparent about possible delays.
My dealer order was at Derby for 8 days, ive read about online orders from the previous ship still sat there. 4 - 5 weeks in Derby!!

Not any criticism, just wondering why a lot of people went down the route of ordering online direct with Toyota, my first thoughts when ordering were to start a relationship with the dealer who will be looking after the car.In my opinion the on-line experience after the first two weeks was dreadful right up to taking delivery of the car, and I wish I’d ordered from a dealer, but and it’s a big but the car is fantastic, and I’m so glad I didn’t cancel.

Is it not just as easy to choose the dealer, give them a call and place an order as it is to go through an online purchase, over the life of ownership the communication will be through a dealer and not Toyota on line.
Sounds quite convoluted for my simple brain in that in the end you have to go to a dealer to pick up the car and for ongoing servicing / maintenance so why not just order through the dealer and kick start a relationship rather than choosing them for Toyota delivering the car.
I am sure they would much rather have the order processed through them.
Not a dig of any sort, just I don't get the online ordering and what or any benefit the process gives anyone, apart from maybe Toyota.
I ordered online, back during the November lockdown.
My dealership were terrible at that point, no information and trying to order over the phone was frustrating.
So I just clicked a few buttons and ordered online. Car was at Derby 1/2 weeks and arrived at the afformentioned dealer for handover.
They were great when it came to handover, I will be taking it there for servicing.

My thoughts as well, i had already identified my local dealer and then someone mentioned on here that the local dealer is Save Ferris, quick email a few phone calls and all sorted. I was back in for my 6 month check the other day so fired him a message for a catchup and booked it around his schedule. Back up to the dealership today for my camber bolts I ordered and then back in next month for a slight gear-lever adjustment that a few of us are having due to a slightly less than smooth 2nd gear due to alignment. Now I’ve struck up a relationship at the dealership I’m looking forward to my GR supra loan car I’ll be getting………….

This!! Really cant understand why poeple chose to order a 33k car online without even going to a dealer (Even though lock down you could still liase with a dealer and order through them) Is it not just as easy to choose the dealer, give them a call and place an order as it is to go through an online purchase, over the life of ownership the communication will be through a dealer and not Toyota on line.

I didn't realise you could order online until I saw the complaints on the forum. Never even crossed my mind. Went to 3 dealers, 3rd one offered a discount so ordered from them.

I ordered through my dealer as it was a £500 refundable deposit rather than a £250 one, and for that I had a dealer very near my work that I could speak to with any issues. It worked out great for me as my dealer was brilliant and texted me updates before the MyT app. Some of the horror stories on the forum have made me realise that I was lucky. Is it not just as easy to choose the dealer, give them a call and place an order as it is to go through an online purchase, over the life of ownership the communication will be through a dealer and not Toyota on line.

Some of the online guys have waited over a month longer than dealership orders. Most of that with the cars just sitting in a car park in Derbyshire. Must be pretty frustrating.
Worth the wait though. I drove home in torrential rain last night, powering out of wet roundabouts, carving through bends, hearing the rain on the carbon roof and gravel pinging off the underside, I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun in a car. It makes you pleased that the weather is st, which is useful in the UK.
